Hands free BlueCruise??

I'm only 2 weeks in with my GTPE and wanted to check with others to see the status of their BlueCruise. I'm notified many times that it's available but when I engage it I have to keep my hands on the wheel. Am I missing an update that finalizes that feature?

Yes, I'm even prompted by the car that it's available. I turn on lane centering and engage cruise but it never shows the hands free option

That means the road you're on doesn't have bluecruise available.
It only works on certain highways that have been 3d mapped.

Right. Ford should have figured out a way to communicate this better. The branding and messaging needs some work.

Agreed. The message in the car is confusing, and not being able to see where it is available doesn't help either.

Supposedly they will be adding a coverage map in FordPass at some point, but we'll see when that happens.

I can't believe that. I drove all the way from Colorado Springs to Birmingham, on interstates with speed limits of 75mph and toll roads with 80mph. All kinds of roads and never had the option.

Since my car doesn't yet have it, I can't explain that. However, note that BlueCruise will not work over 80mph. If you were driving at that speed, it won't engage, and will disengage if you exceed that speed.

It works a max of 80mph. I'm guessing with those speed limits you were going over 80mph?

are you sure your also pressing the right side "ok" button after turning on BC?

You have to go to Ford’s website and activate it. Without it active, it’ll have that BlueCruise prompt, but never do hands free. Then just always keep cruise control at 78 or below for it to work. I do 78 as descending hills will cause me to hit 80 and keep BC on. At 80, I’d hit 81 or 82 and it would disengage.

Called Ford Customer Support just now. It's not activated fully. The support rep looked at my VIN account and said I should receive an email in March offering me 1 year free full hands free Blue Cruise. Once I accept the offer it will then be totally functional.
