There are plant shutdowns, and there are also plants now operating at reduced capacity. There are certain models being produced but parked and held until the missing chip/components arrive and can be installed later on.
Not sure if this is directly related to the chip shortage but the Kentucky fair grounds parking lot in Louisville is filled with brand new Excursions. Never seen that before but could imagine the whole lot is waiting for something before dealer delivery.

Is that supposition or do you have access to solid information?
If the latter then thank you. That’s the kind of information I’ve been seeking.
It's solid but not specific to the Mach E, just auto manufacturing in general. I can say with certainty that that exact process is happening with other models. It's not at all unlikely that the MME is doing something similar.

From what I've read Ford is giving priority to the Mach E because it's new and a money maker so they aren't going to shut that plant down unless the chip shortage became dire enough where they had no choice. I don't know what the monthly production numbers indicate however as that may point to a diminished ability to ramp up production of our cars. Ford at least has been forthcoming about all the problems with their other plants so I hope that the fact they aren't mentioning Mach E production being a problem is a good sign. I guess time will tell.

Ford Focus, ordered Mustang Mach-E

I ordered my Mach e December 2020 and received an email mid February with a build date of the end of May 2021. I think they wait and release around 3 months of build dates all at once (multiple people posted that received an email with build date on the same day). Likely you will have a while to wait. Is this the right way to do business, no. Just trying to let you know the process that has happened up until now.

All speculation though with sound reasoning behind it.
Ford can’t find some interns to keep us informed?

Hey Ford, are you listening? Are there a bunch of MMEs completed but for a few chips? Will we get build dates when those chips are available?

All you have to do is reply, “Yup, that’s right.”. We’ll spread the word for you. Please!!
Yup, that;s right.

Not sure MME is a money maker for Ford. volumes WAY too low. All priority is and will be directed to F150s as that is the bulk of their market share. Not even close.

Maybe I used the wrong word but the article definitely said Mach E was getting priority and we can see what happened to F-150 plants. F-150 is a money maker for Ford though.
