How long did it take owning a MME to get your first speeding ticket?

2 and a half years here, and I got pulled over once. I was speeding, but ended up not even getting a warning after he asked me a series of questions about the car because his wife was wanting one.

Most people here think you should drive 10mph under the limit, in the far left lane and anything other than that is a sin. Therefore, I don't think you'll get many people with tickets responding.

For the rest of us, hopefully we are all using a radar detector and/or Waze. If you're not then you're doing it wrong.

Well, I got my first after 2 years. And I think I should just slow down, learned a lesson. Going to use Waze, but the radar detector costs more than twice my ticket, so really going to just slow down.

Meh ... not really. For 1 - Escort Radar, who I use, pays for the ticket if you get one up to $250. You also have the point on your record which increases insurance and if you remove it through traffic school well that has a cost and a waste of time.

I've only been pulled over for speeding once in my life, when I was 16. Luckily the CHP Officer had a thing for paintball and I had an awesome, fairly new still, AutoCocker and all of my equipment in the back seat. He asked for my hopper, some balls and the gun and shot off some rounds, handed it back and said slow down kid. I was doing 100 in a 55.

Historically, my speeding tickets have been on the highway and typically on road trips. Oddly enough I've found that driving the MME on highway road trips has encouraged me to drive a bit more slowly. I like trying to stay over 3 miles/kWh and that becomes difficult over 70mph.

I did get pulled over for rolling through a stop sign last year, and thankfully only received a warning.
Did you go into a long tiring explanation of brake regeneration and the differences in drive modes and how you thought you were in Unbridled but remembered due to safety you were actually in Whisper and thus did not completely stop?.....because it was not your fault!

Haha! I tried to explain the "drive mode not available" bug that booted me from Unbridled to Engaged.

Just kidding, actually I think the officer appreciated that I quickly and honestly admitted my mistake when he asked. Sometimes that's all it takes.

I endorse driving 10 mph under your limited speed. Not so much the other way around. Unfortunately, 104 mph isn't really all that fast.

So I should not jinx this but 2 years and 2 months and still no tickets.

I need to watch it or I will get one.

Haven't had a speeding ticket since 1978. I don't plan on changing my driving habits. I drive like your Granddad. 😆

Aye, my fan mail came from the Chief Constable of Lincolnshire!

Served me right for leaving Robin Hood county of Nottinghamshire to visit the carrot taggers in the flatlands of Lincolnshire.

I shredded the evidence in case wifey saw it, couldn’t stand the interminable nagging & reminders of my errant wild (37mph in a 30mph country lane limit) reckless driving😳
Sure is a good thing you're telling, you know, the entire Internet about any of this! 😉

I learned a long time ago that safely pushing speeds on twisty roads is a lot more fun than just going fast on a straight road. And when riding my GS in a group club ride, I would always let the faster riders go first so that they would get the tickets rather than myself

Don't want to jinx myself but so far I have never received a speeding ticket both before and after the Mach-E. I'm paranoid (although I often think of that saying, "it's not paranoia if they really are out to get you") and if there isn't anyone speeding ahead of me, I'm going within about five MPH of the speed limit. If I see a bunch of brake lights seemingly for no good reason, I'm going the speed limit. If I see a faster car that's ahead of me and they are going the speed limit, then I am going the speed limit. I know my route pretty well and where the police hang out along it, so I'll have my brief bit of fun and then stick with traffic.

The Mach-E has been a blessing and a curse in this regard, though. The curse is that it's the fastest car I've owned, and within the first few months I realized I was hitting around 70 MPH if I wasn't thinking about it - the car just gets up to that speed so easily and effortlessly. Now I am better acclimated and don't need to watch myself as closely but in the beginning I really worried that I was going to get a ticket because I wasn't aware of just how fast I was going. The blessing is that I have grabber blue as the color (chosen by my four-year-old son), and it is also the "loudest" color of a car that I have ever owned (if I had chosen it for myself, I might have gone with white or iced silver blue metallic). It's beautiful, but I feel it stands out quite a bit, increasing my paranoia that the police will hone in on me right away... and furthering my pedal discipline.
