7200 miles and this is what the rear tires look like. Just had them rotated and now they are on the front. Trying to make a warranty claim

Is it possible that these tires are over inflated? they seem less worn on the outside edges.

Those tires were on the back. the shop said the rear end was slightly out of alignment, and corrected that.

There is a conversation to be had with your tire dealer. I have been told that factory installed tires are lower grade than what you can buy at the tire dealer. I asked this question when the factory tires on a different brand of car went 27000 miles. I replaced them with an identical tire that came with a 50,000 mile warranty. I asked why that warranty would not apply to the factory installed tire. For that tire, the tire dealer said factory tires were inferior. On a Mach E Premium the dealer version of the factory installed tire has a 55,000 mile warranty. My expectations are low for the factory tires that will come with my car.

At your rate, you will easily run well past 50k miles before you need to replace them. These have maybe a touch over 9/32" when new. I was down to 7/32" at 19k miles. I now have 44k miles and just slightly under 5/32" left still. I already purchased another set and will get them installed between 3/32"-4/32".

Really very good tire wear for an EV. 👍
Just came back from my 20K mile service with the sheet saying 6/32 on the tires and had no idea how to gauge that. I just wanted to say thanks for posting your miles and tread depth to help others out...and build the right expectations from an EV for tires.

6/32=3/16” so they are probably at 3/4-7/8 of their useful life span unless you only drive on bone-dry roads that have no ICE cars dripping oil on them. 🤔🐩

What is a lot? Half, 25%?
Using as 10-11/32 as new, it seems at 20k miles, about 40-50% of the threads are worn down. About 4500 miles / 1/32 thread. Considering you can only go to about 2-3/32, it would seems 35-36K, maybe 40k miles would be the time for replacement.
At 21,000mi I had a leak in one tire (sidewall damage). Since they need to be replaced in pairs, I decided to replace all four, though they had at least another 10k.
Costco had Michelin Defender 2 tires that were about $300 less than the dealer quote for the tires that came with the car, Michelin Primacy.

Note that "Michelin does not cover Original Equipment tires for mileage."

The Defender 2 has a 80,000 mile warranty. We'll see . . . .

I replaced my ‘21 First Edition’s OEM Primacy’s at just under 38k miles. I could have put another 3k+ miles on them and stayed legal but we have some challenging Oregon Cascade mountain pass driving with snow/ice/slush to contend with over the winter and I wanted to have good downhill braking in particular, plus wet road breaking and stability on flat ground. I replaced my tires with
235/55R-19 PIRELLI SCORPION WEATHERACTIVE XL

and have no regrets. Also given the change in size from 225/55R19 to 235/55R19, I’ve settled on 41 psi back and front.

There is a very small but entirely acceptable (to me) increase in road noise (these Pirelli All Weather tires are not EV specific so have no foam acoustic damping layer, etc.), and I’m seeing somewhere between a 5-7% decrease in range; the tradeoff being a distinct increase in road handling quality - feels like driving on suction cups hugging the road.

Now my big, heavy MME FE reminds me of my old 2008 Mini Cooper with its incredibly soft tires. I feel much safer driving with this improved traction.

So my advice is don’t drive on your tires until the tread depth hits legal minimums if your travels take you onto challenging conditions (gravelled/chip sealed roads, hydroplaning, snow/ice/slush). The best designed traction control, ABS etc. can’t work effectively if the car/road interface is superannuated tread.

A warranty claim on the function of your right foot may be more effective. It appears you enjoy romping on the go pedal.

I ended up replacing mine at 49,000 (Nov-2023). I still had 4/32 left and could have easily gone to 55,000, but winter was coming up and I wanted to play it safe. Quite happy getting 49k from them. 80% highway driving.

Our OEM Primacy tires have 44,000 miles on them and are in great condition. I haven't checked their current tread depth, but they're certainly good enough to keep running for at least through to the 50,000 miles checkup.

On the other hand, I ride a sport bike, only 130HP, and I get about 3k miles from a rear tire (thats taken down to the metal cords,, the tire will hold air even with the cords showing). Bikes in the 160 to 200HP class, those folks are lucky to get 1,500 miles.

Replacement is about $220 to $280 (before mounting). So I;m spending at least $500 a year on bike tires.
