I’m told for better battery life you shouldn’t charge at 100%. How do you set up to charge at say 85%? I have the 240 volt nema plug in my garage. Numerous calls to Ford Pass with no results. Can anybody help.

You need to set up a charge schedule for your location (assume this is at your home?). This is done on the main infotainment screen of your MME. You can set your charge times and target charge percentage there. Pull up the Vehicle drawer and select the Settings tab. Select the Charge option. Have at it with your settings.

Sure: Once you have charge at home you setup a charge location (either via Ford Pass or in the car itself).

Select your house and then pick what you want it to charge to.

Hit the car at the top left of the display, select "Settings", then "Charge":
Ford Mustang Mach-E How to charge battery at less then 100%. 1634419339480

Make sure "Charge Scheduling" is on, and press the little pencil to the right of it.

Ford Mustang Mach-E How to charge battery at less then 100%. 1634419380390

Press Add new location and that should get you where you want to go...

Lets see I bet Ford has a video on this too: Yup starting at 1:40 in this video:

You can do it through the FordPass app on your phone also. A lot of people have said it works better if you set it in the car, but it has always worked fine through the app for me.

To add to this, you do not need to set up a charging time if you do not want to. I have it set up where it limits my charge to 80%, but has no specific time set for charging.

It's best to use a charge time. Charging at night is off peek after 11:00 pm. In California on PG&E the difference from peek to off peek is $0.247 down to $0.037. I know this doesn't apply in all states but it's a big difference in mine.

Does the target percentage only apply if you have scheduled charging enabled? If I set charging to 12a to 12p will it still work?

Peak...

Rates are determined by utility companies and can differ by house.

My peak is 11AM - 7PM M-F. Standard plan has same rate 24/7.

Wait... Wait... I am a PG&E customer. I live in Northern California, San Francisco East Bay. The cheapest I can get during 12am - 3pm times is $0.14, but the peak hours energy cost is $0.50 and $0.56 per kWh. Where are you getting $0.24 from PG&E? $0.037 during night hours? Are you sure you are living in California? I've never heard of such prices. I do not think it's true.

I am just say it is important to know how much it cost and when to charge. It could be as much a $10 or more difference. I have solar which give you better picture of you energy use. We traded in a 2017 BEV Focus for this car. We are going form a 33kWh to 88kWh battery. This main goal is to charge it at the lowest rate. It all beats filling up at $4.75 a gal for gas.

There are several rate plans for PG&E plus ones that people have had that aren't even available anymore but still have them since they were grandfathered in. I live in NorCal and my rate is $0.28 weekdays from 8pm to 5pm and all day weekends and holidays. Peak is only on weekdays from 5pm to 8pm at $0.38 (which I never use because my Powerwalls kick in during that time). I have tried several of their rate plans and this one is the cheapest for me especially since I have solar.

PG&&E delivery charge is $9.98 a month. Yes this is a plan I have had since 2017 and I not sure you can still get it. The point is too charge from home at the lowest rate possible.

Must be nice to have time of use pricing. I live in PA and we don’t have it. So I charge whenever plugged in.
