takes about ten minutes....
using a pair of stubby 'regular' screwdrivers and pliers, or an 'auto-fastener' tool to minimize damage to the (fairly soft plastic) fasteners.

You can re-install the fasteners, or get some new ones at a hardware store, to plug the holes. Or leave the extra drain holes and put some foam or Astroturf (my favorite) in the bottom of the frunk to keep cargo from sliding around and clunking when you are out there Drifting.... ;)

Have you noticed any additional road noise or issues after removing it?

How easy is it just to remove the center piece so I have more space in the middle?

It's all one piece.
Others (another?) have reported it is possible to remove the center/cross divider by removing all three, sliding the center out, then replacing the two sides. It is true that the center/cross divider can't be slid up with the side pieces in place.

Ten minutes with a Dremel tool or an x-acto blade cutting away the stop at the top might save 20 minutes removing and reinstalling the pins.

I heard somewhere on YouTube that this useless divider was added because of some US regulation and apparently other countries won't be getting it. Does anyone here know whether this is true and if so what regulation? The frunk does have the emergency escape button so it does seem that Ford's initial intent was to not have this divider.

For what it's worth, here is this guy's opinion. He turns what could have been a 1 minute video, into a 3 minute one, but other than that, seems to be fairly useful information.

The Dent Fix tool he recommends is a little pricier at $20+, but it does look like he likes a version of one of the tools that Mach-E VLOG has linked to above. (BTW, how do you appropriately mention another user, so that they are linked and noticed?)

I removed the divider, and ruined a couple of the attachment devices. i tried to be super careful, but without that tool, the screwdriver method permanently deformed a couple of the attachments.

The frunk is way more usable now.
