I might be dense. I can't figure out how to remove the OEM rubber mats.
I see that they are velcroed or attached to the floor, and I tried gently pulling them but it looks like it needs to be harder or there's a trick to snapping them off.
I don't want to break whatever fastens them to the floor.

They need to be removed for cleaning.

Just keep pulling.
It’s not like the old Toyota system that locked them in with the rotating pin or hook, just a friction fit over a peg for our rigs.

There is one snap fit peg for each front mat. I am pretty sure the rear seat floor mat doesn't have a peg. It requires a pretty great deal of force. That makes it kind of bad if you haven't vacuumed the debris off of the mat first, as it sends the little particles flying all over the interior of the car when it finally releases. 🤪🐩

Pull with hands.

I figured out that if I push down on each peg at the same time as I'm pulling up that particular corner of the mat, a small amount of force is all it takes to make it snap free.
Thanks for the advice.

Dare I say this technique might forever more be known as Kafkaesque? 🤣
