I’m 51, and have never done more than run my car through a car wash every couple months wether it needed it or not. Well, today I finished working, got home, cut the lawn, and went at the Smurfmobile with Chemical Guys S102, a foam cannon, 2 buckets, and RainEx. It looks better than any car I’ve ever had, but now I want to clay bar and ceramic it. I’ll say it again… I Hate You Guys.

That looks gorgeous! I just don’t have the time or energy to do that. Fortunately, the Car Spa is 3 miles away and they take good care of my car. The only drawback is that it has to stay there most of the day when they hand wax it. Yeah, I know - first world problems ?

Clay mitt (easier than clay bar and still great results), Chemical Guys V38 optical grade polish, Chemical Guys HydroSlick Ceramic Wax. 3 more steps and you’re done.

I’m going to try just washing it for another week or two… work has been crazy, like 76 hours this week crazy. Memorial day weekend should get me more time to dedicate to the car while I’m smoking a brisket for a small get together.

I’ve always found washing/waxing my cars as therapeutic. In a weird way it also makes me enjoy the car more and sort of makes me feel bonded to it. I really like taking care of cars I appreciate driving

I too enjoy smoking meats and working 80 hour weeks. Did a brisket the day I did polishes and coated the wife’s car. (The one in the photo above). Rock on ??

My favorite, and what I’m doing that weekend, is to make pastrami with my briskets.

I’ve only tried pastrami once and I didn’t do very well with it. Probably why I haven’t done it again. Last week I made 15#’s of bacon. Yum.

And I should add, in all fairness, my 80 hour weeks are done in 24 hour shifts (plus some paid travel time). So I can work 80 hours and still have a solid 3 days off. Helps with the smoking and the car detailing.
Cheers ? and happy hobbying.
More gratuitous photos. ?

I use the recipe/method from www.amazingribs.com . You can find it here… https://amazingribs.com/tested-reci.../home-made-pastrami-thats-close-katzs-recipe/

I use their corned beef recipe to cure the brisket, then put that rub on it. I’ve been very pleased with the results.

Thanks. I’m pretty happy with how it looks. But, then I went and watched a few videos about using a clay bar or a clay mitt. Then I went to get McDonald’s, and now I see/feel all the imperfections and it’s gonna drive me crazy until I can correct it.
