Why do you want to deliberately break your car? 😮
He's part of the group that believes the part has been redesigned and he wants the new HVBJB. Seems to me his efforts are proving what the other group believes to be true. 🤷🏻

I think you are correct. It’s not a one or two time event that makes the HVBJB fail. It is a gradual deterioration of the contact points that happen a lot faster with that kind of driving. In my case it’s about 6,000 miles. I just hope that I am truly the outlier and that as these rack up 50K, 60K, etc that we don’t see a high rate of failure with “normal” use with “normal” drivers.
New part went into all the cars rolling off the assembly line May of last year. In a couple months most of those cars will be hitting the 10,000 to 12,000 mile mark (theoretically), so I will be very interested to see if those ones start to fail as well. Mine failed at 10,000 miles so we will see.

I think if you did a couple more of these, and throw in a DCFC in there too back from very low SOC to high SOC, you'll get yourself the toasted HVBJB meal you're looking for.
- start with a DCFC (or L2) charge from <20% to 100% to allow the extended charge time and current to 'pre-heat' your HVBJB enclosure area, and

- head right out to any stretch of highway where you can alternate between WOT for 5-10 seconds and 0% throttle full regen in unbridled mode for 10-20 seconds to maximize current going back into the battery and get you back down below the speed limit, and

- repeat WOT/regen 'events' until either you or the car pukes

... I will bet that you will see the nearest temp sensors (ChgACtemp and ChgDCtemp) rise from 'normal'80F-110F to something over 140F. If you hold that temp for 'a while', my bet is your car will kick out the SVS alert and earn you a replacement HVBJB

It does not have to be WOT current that kills the HVBJB, it seems to be much closer tied to temperature and time AT temps above 'normal'

We seem to be an awfully creative bunch when it comes to methods to break our cars. I wonder if Ford was counting on that during the MME design. if not, we've certainly given them some things to think about for the model refresh. ;)

not 'break on purpose'.... Just 'testing'

If I deliberately broke my car, then took it to the dealer and asked for it to be repaired under warranty, are they obligated to do so? Asking for a friend 😉

Best of luck in your Destructive Testing! I used to like to ride my Sport Bike like that. Problem is you might get the SVS at the most inopportune time.

Is it a 2021 with the old HVJB?
All MMEs produced until around end of May 2022 have the old HVBJB. I think the production switchover was around May 21 if I remember correctly.

Mine has not failed yet and I would like it to fail when I am prepared and ready, instead of an inconvenient time. Most failures have been very inconvenient. So by trying to force the failure, I am trying to be somewhat in control. It is a big facade. 😳

As long as I have not modified the car to defeat Ford's controls, there is nothing I can do on a road or track that isn't covered by the warranty, IMO.

It certainly does not look like a Bolt!! 😂

The MME is a great looking car. No doubt about it. I have had many people tell me how great it looks. How many people have said a Bolt looks great? Or an ID4? Ha. Looks are part of the purchasing decision, for sure.

John, I'm a little late on this but I lived in Boulder Creek for 32 years and worked in Redwood City. For half of those years I'd drive down HWY 236 to HWY 9 to Skyline (HWY 35) to La Honda Rd (HWY 84) to work and back. Talk about a fun drive..... There are actually many places in the Bay Area. Problem for me is deer. In those 15 or so years, I have hit 4 deer. Twice with no damage to the cars and twice with minor damage. How about Bolinas to Mt. Tamalpais on Ridgecrest Blvd or Mt Hamilton Rd to Lick Observatory?

And Mike...... I've driven my car hard back and forth to Yosemtie (live one hour away) on HWY 120 which is a total elevation of 6200 ft up and back and with passengers in the car many many times since this whole HVBJB issues started and still waiting for mine to fail. I ordered a board at least 3 months ago but I know I will never get is since it must not be a priority because my car is not out of commission.

That sounds like it is a lot harder on the HVBJB compared to what I did. Maybe some will just never fail.
