This is the way.Honda Odyssey
Second the MiataMazda Miata for my wife so she can replace her 1997 that she loves so much... (Yes, @dtbaker61, I know about your e-Miata and I'm insanely jealous, but haven't found one like it and haven't found a reasonable conversion option.)
But you’d need way more structure to keep it from killing you in a rollover with the weight of a battery.Probably you're right, but you'd think the rigidity of the battery skateboard would be awesome for a convertible. No extra weight needed to stiffen it up.
An EV Triumph/Alfa/MG would be sweet, but I'd miss the unsynchronized shifting and percussive maintenance on the carbs.
All true. You don't think a pop up hoop would keep a 2 ton battery from squishing you?But you’d need way more structure to keep it from killing you in a rollover with the weight of a battery.
In order to make a low volume niche car (BEV) high volume, they all went after the highest volume categories (small sedans and crossovers).
The problem is that when everyone has the same idea…… it’s no longer a great idea. First to market with a mainstream brand full size suv or sports coupe will do well.
But convertibles……. Super low volume. You’ll have to settle for a roadster.
I don't think it's about stiffening it up, it's about the weight the car would need to support if it flipped overProbably you're right, but you'd think the rigidity of the battery skateboard would be awesome for a convertible. No extra weight needed to stiffen it up.
An EV Triumph/Alfa/MG would be sweet, but I'd miss the unsynchronized shifting and percussive maintenance on the carbs.
it’s gonna Be pretty tricky to roll a car with the center of gravity of a BEV.But you’d need way more structure to keep it from killing you in a rollover with the weight of a battery.

Oh Frak yes! I'm tempted to get one in a hybrid version (emphasis on tempted).FWD Maverick.
Interesting. As far as being far off goes, I think I want to see what happens when all the LFP and solid state dust settles in a few years. Our MMEs will probably still have decent value at that point (good trade-in value). In other words, by the time a lot of these hyped BEVs are actually available, I might just be ready to trade up.Honda’s EV is plan is just too far off to get excited about any of it. Last I read they were gonna use the GM platform?
I think this every time I see a Mach-1 or a Shelby. Though I get just as many waves as I get head shakes.Mustang 2-door coupe, for all the haters.
Yes I do hope manufactures pay attention to this sort of thread. I'm sure they get caught between what they can engineer inexpensively with decent margins and what customers actually want and, more importantly, will open their wallets for.Second the Miata
Subaru Impreza Sport
We just bought my son his first car an Impreza 4-door and it's fun to drive with quick steering and throttle.
Second a vote for Expedition. Our old 2019 Expedition would make a great EV. Listening @Ford Motor Company
