Hey people, anyone knows if the US Mach-E California Route 1 is exactly the same as any European model? I'm planning to move back to Italy and I would like to import my Mach-E. I know that some US cars don't meet European regulations and you need to do adjustments in order to import the car.

It is not. In fact, not only are there different safety requirements between NA and EU cars, the charging ports are different. You will need a Mennekes to J-1772 adapter for L1/L2 charging (should work) and a CCS2 to CCS1 adapter for DC fast charging (don't know if they exist or would work).

Wrong. ALL US-spec cars are different from EU-spec cars of the same type.

Getting a certain type of foreign car running legally in the EU is a major effort.

It is possible, even for a single private person (I've done it myself), to import a vintage US car to Europe - but only because the formal and technical hurdles are significantly reduced in the case of classic cars.

But a current car type? Even though the usually very difficult issue of emissions is mute in the case of the MME, I'm sure there is enough trouble left (lighting equipment, safety equipment, electromagnetic emissions, and maybe dozens of other aspects I can't even think about), that I believe that such a project is a non-starter.

Investigate carefully, including contacting EU regulators, before you put your car on a ship!

I have little doubt that, esp. in the current market situation, it would be much wiser to sell your car in the US, and get another MME when you are in the EU.
