That could be a very important one for people to know very soon too, while they may still be deciding what to do for home charging (especially in the US where the 30% federal tax credit runs out at the end of the year). Could help some decide whether they have to install a new circuit or not (like if they only have a 240V 30A dryer circuit available and need to depend on the car to only draw a max of 24A from it so the 32A charger won't trip the breaker).

I'd add, to confirm it for both 120V and 240V, as they could have separate limits/settings.
Agree - be good to know if the car's charging rate is dynamic. Installed a Chargepoint to squeeze out a few extra amps above the mobile charger, so hoping the car can utilize it.

I asked and checked during my demo and the representative wasn't sure about a car-side setting... but this is part of the EV Charger spec. So if you only have a 30 A dryer outlet to use, you just need a charger that supports setting it as such and the car will support it. While it would be nice if the car can also set a max current, but it's the job of the EV charger to tell that car what max it supports.

Here's a good reference video where you can see a charger with a max current setting.

We know the car can handle up to 48A, so that shouldn't be a problem. It should definitely handle all that your ChargePoint can deliver.

There's just rare cases where we may want to the car to limit it to a lower amperage, usually due to a smaller rated circuit breaker that would trip if drawing 32A.

An example would be wanting to use the included Ford Mobile Charger (32A) on an outlet with a 30A breaker. While we're not sure, we think that charger doesn't have buttons on it to lower the amps. But if the car can be set to only draw 24A for that charge, it might work.

I've only seen that kind of in vehicle setting for Level-1 charging: On the Bolt you can set Level-1 to be 8 or 12 amps.

On Level-2 you can't set any rate.

Don't forget also that people who have short commute might not need at all to charghe at 32A or 48A all the time when you have all night to do it, you may want to set it at 12 A and it will be enough to go the next morning and use the full charge capacity of the EVSE only if you want to go on a road trip and want the car at 100% in the morning. Battery prefer slow charge.

You can set a Tesla to charge between 5A to 48A.

The Tour was not busy during the mid-afternoon today so I had lots of time to play with some systems. Here's a video that goes through the Voice Command options.

I captured the outside (pedestrian) sounds of the Mach E.

In the first of two videos of the pedestrian sound on the outside of the Mach E you will hear that it actually mirrors the inside sounds to some extent and is louder when accelerating than when slowing (video 2)

In the second of two videos of the pedestrian sound on the outside of the Mach E you will hear that it when slowing it is quieter than it was during acceleration (video 1). It is also quieter than the sound of wet tires turning.

Matt and I took separate test rides (first and third of the day, respectively) then met afterwards. We proceeded to each kick around the two cars checking out features, asking questions, comparing notes, and doing what we could to resolve some lingering Forum questions.

IMG_6198.jpeg

BTW @Mach-E VLOG, the Tour guides were impressed with the Mach E gear and asked where I got it.

There were lots of folks there to see the cars. We had lots of time to get snippets of investigation in around the other guests. The Tour guides were knowledgeable but lots of our tough Forum questions made me feel like an episode of "Stump the Chumps". Maybe they'll get answers to a few of these before the DC stops are over. I'll be seeing them again next week, if not tomorrow. I'll see if they got answers.

So, here are some of those questions in no particular order except I know the first will be in demand.

Range
Yes, ever most on everyones' minds these days. I chatted range with Zach during our test ride. You'll hear that in the video once I post it. He picked up his Infinite Blue E4X, 081M886 (for lots of photos see https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...videos-from-koons-ford-silver-spring-md.1862/), this morning from their office in Northern Virginia, swung by Leesburg, then across I-70 with the cruise locked on 75 mph. He started out this morning showing a range of 302 miles on a full charge. With 75 mph travel in steady rain, he said his realistic range was about 270 miles/charge. Matt got a similar answer from Zach during his test ride.

He has found his efficiency to range between the low and mid-3 mi/kWhs. Usually around 3.5 on highway and trying to get places. Events like this drop it down and he was currently showing around 3.1 mi/kWh. Here's a shot from Zach's screen:
IMG_6238.jpeg

Don't be too down seeing the 3.1 -- You'll see why in the video of my test ride. There were multiple rapid acceleration demos in each trip around the test ride course. No hypermiling here.

Charging
No luck getting to see the full function of the charging screens. The Tour guides repeatedly mentioned this was pre-production, so lots of things aren't complete. They also indicated many features are available in the app. It dawned on me later that I should have tried programming in a time. That was probably where the other options come in. I'll try that on another stop.

IMG_6188.jpeg

While the guides were confident the CCS connector is locked in place during charging, they were't sure if it would auto-unlock once the battery is full. They guessed locked was locked but I could tell they were guessing. They did say they'd try to find out from an engineer.

Switching Drive Modes on the Control Levers
I forgot who stated this one (on the Mach E Club I think) but no. No magic drive mode selector buttons as @mattbostonmache said. However, I really liked the design of the wiper controller with the dial accessible on both sides of the paddle (sorry that photo is blurry).

IMG_6185.jpeg

IMG_6182.jpeg
IMG_6184.jpeg

Side Mirrors
Matt discussed auto dimming with Zack. Yes the rearview mirror is auto dimming. As far as he can tell, Zack found no indication the side mirrors auto dim. This is consistent with the Packaging Guide, Ordering Guide, and Brochure, too.

When sitting in the cars, I found the mirrors to be of adequate size. I know someone thought they were small.

Yes, to answer someone's question where the side cameras are located: in the side mirrors.
IMG_6204.jpeg

Cargo Area Cover
The more I see it the more I like the new design. It is lightweight and easy to install/remove at the four corners. It fully covers the area without obscuring the view out the rearview mirror.
IMG_6219.jpeg

While it twist-folds up into a smaller size, unfolded it is just a bit smaller than the cargo deck. That means you can just toss it under the cargo deck and it's out of your way and a snap to lift out and attach.
IMG_6224.jpeg

Power in Back
No question, 12 volt "cigarette lighter" style.
IMG_6228.jpeg

Cargo Net Ready
It's interesting that the accessories list the Brits received doesn't list a cargo net for the back. However, you can see one of the upper hooks for it next to the 12V outlet above (there's a mate on the opposite side). You can also see the two metal loops for it at the hatch edge (left up, right down).
IMG_6235.jpeg

Apple Car Play and Waze
Wirelessly syncing my phone to the car was easy. The Tour guide said he usually just uses the cable. Apple Car Play seems to use most of the upper section near the screen top while still providing access to "cards" below it. As we've seen before, that still leaves climate control and the volume knob underneath. It also locks out use of your phone's screen (see below).
IMG_6208.jpeg

IMG_6209.jpeg

You don't have to use Apple Car Play for Waze, however, as it is one of the already existing apps. The Tour guide says it still operates through your phone, so Waze is effectively running in the Sync4a screen, tethering to your phone for data.
IMG_6210.jpeg

It also locks your phone screen.

Front Camera Cleaner
There was a discussion earlier about camera cleaner on the front. You can see the cleaner that pops out hidden away in its hidden-hole here:
IMG_6215.jpeg

Frunkage
One of the Tour guides told me a little story about the self-draining Frunk. This was a solution to a problem that became a feature. Yes, the Frunk seal is pretty well airtight. I checked it more thoroughly on this visit and am confident it's solid. Unfortunately, by sealing the Frunk this well, it made it hard to shut the hood. There was nowhere for the air to go. The Frunk drain was originally a solution to allow suddenly increasing pressure in the Frunk to escape. Then someone decided to make it into a self-draining Frunk.
IMG_6179.jpeg

While we don't know what those frunky little panels are,
IMG_6037.jpeg

he was confident they are air and water tight. I couldn't manage to get them open either ?

Front License
The Mach E Specialist at Koons Ford Baltimore was really on the ball. When I started measuring the space under the nose for a license plate bracket, he knew exactly what I was up to. It seems they have a standing order on all Mustangs: don't install the front license plate holder unless the customer specifically asks for it. I'll post more photos and details in the Front License Plate thread (https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/what-are-peoples-plans-for-front-license-plates.1295/). I'll also reach out to Craig at Craig’s Custom Mustang Bracket but I'm pretty confident his bracket will work fine.

Voice Commands
While more may come later in OTA updates, the current operable voice commands are largely related to the Sync4a system: navigation, infotainment, etc. Neither the Tour guides nor Zach thought it would do things like open the hatch (or pod bays). However, it can be used to set climate control.

Valet Mode
All the Valet Mode lock/unlock PIN do is to turn the Valet mode on and off. I found nothing where it would give you an opportunity to get a PIN to give the valet. Looks like we may need the fob for that.

Light Controls
I can confirm the upper two are map light on/off buttons. The lower left turns off all interior lights. The one on the lower right is still uncertain. A Tour guide guessed it turned off the Puddle Lights (@GoGoGadgetMachE's guess) but that seemed to be a guess on his part. @generaltso's guess of disabling the interior lights turning on when doors are opened is possible but when I pressed it I didn't get a response. However, by the time I tested that there were lots of people and I couldn't control the doors.
IMG_6095.jpeg

Drive Mode Sounds
I'll have to test that on another test ride. Zach didn't get to that until the end of our trip. I'll have to turn up the stereo, too. However it didn't seem to vrooom until you were actually moving. No revving the "engine" at a light. Besides, the sound is inside only.

Outside Sound
Not very loud. I have a video but you can't hear it. There was a lot of road noise from the 8 lane road out front and with the rain, you mainly hear the tires throwing water. Of course, since the outside sound is supposed to alert pedestrians, even an electric car makes noise driving in the rain.

Outside Plastic Pieces
As mentioned elsewhere, the full front bumper and fascia, wheel lip moldings, and rear bumper panel are plastic. They were surprisingly flexible. This softness concerns me regarding gravel cuts and scratches. I'm definitely overing those with XPEL Ultimate.

SWAG
Yes, there was SWAG for those of us who took test rides. Same as @CHeil402 showed us.

Excellent notes! Still wondering how we get +300mi when the gauge says 240mi again.

@ChasingCoral Did anyone mention anything about the white steering wheel??

Today's test ride is much longer (17 minutes), goes on faster roads, more curving roads and shows the turning radius in a U-turn. Again, adaptive cruise control is demonstrated but not one-pedal driving that I showed in the first test ride.

We've asked three different people. They don't know about the white steering wheel.
