I don't see why. Connecting the wires of the plug would be the same as connecting the wires for a hardwired install. Either would just be 3rd party wires coming in, and the charger won't know the difference.I don't doubt that the generic HD plug could be made to work, but I would be a little leery of using it. Could present an issue if you ever needed warranty coverage on the charger.
Fair point.I don't see why. Connecting the wires of the plug would be the same as connecting the wires for a hardwired install. Either would just be 3rd party wires coming in, and the charger won't know the difference.
My nephew who is a VP at EVGo recommends Clipper Creek. I plan to have one installed when/ if my Mach E is delivered.Has anyone used a Clipper Creek charger? That is what the company that installed my solar panels and Tesla battery offers.
That marketing photo is funny. The EVSE has been "ICE'd"I ordered a 48A wifi charger from Emporia for $400 (made in Colorado). I just mounted it today and will be wiring the supply in the next couple weeks when I get the chance. Seems well built, I will let you know how it works. Btw, it says to use it at 48A, it needs to be hardwired.
"ICE"d. Ha! I was cleaning my 68 convertible when I took the pic. My GTPE doesn't arrive until 9/20, so I'm just getting things ready. That marketing photo is funny. The EVSE has been "ICE'd"
The company is in Colorado, but the EVSE is manufactured for them in India (see the last page of this document). And the initial units aren't UL listed -- but it looks as though Emporia's implemented all the proper safety guidelines and says units produced after this summer's run should be safety listed.
Anyway, still seems like a good option at a great price! Let us know how it works out.
Yeah now I see that it's your car. First I thought it was marketing from the company -- they'd just found a beautiful vehicle and posed the EVSE next to it. ??"ICE"d. Ha! I was cleaning my 68 convertible when I took the pic. My GTPE doesn't arrive until 9/20, so I'm just getting things ready.
Have you had a chance to use the Emporia yet? If so, what are your impressions?I ordered a 48A wifi charger from Emporia for $400 (made in Colorado). Not yet. I pick up my GTPE today! So, I will be using it for the first time this weekend.Have you had a chance to use the Emporia yet? If so, what are your impressions?

OK, so I have used the Emporia charger a few times now and I have to say it works well. Was able to set it up in minutes by using the app to connect to my wifi and set it for max charge rate of 48A. Kind of a non-event to use it. Just plug it in and it ramps right to 11Kw and stays there, charging away until my car reaches my preferred level of charge and then stops. I can watch the charge curve on the app and stop it from the app if I want also. For $400, it seems like a bargain so far. I guess time will tell.Have you had a chance to use the Emporia yet?
