Installing Comma.ai / OpenPilot (BlueCruise alternative)

Thanks for the install instructions. Bought it before the 4th...installed today. Pretty easy following your guide/the setup guide. I only tried out the 'default' settings and took a quick spin... everything was working well.

I just did my first 2 drives with 4.0 (110 miles) and it was a pretty rough go. The car ping pongs like crazy on straightaways and can barely take a curve without throwing the "turning exceeds steering limit" error. I am using the FoF Liquid Crystal model as directed.

It's hard for me to make out what is what in the settings so I'm not sure how to tune it (or if it's even tunable). Is it suggested to just go back to 2.1? I really like the UI improvements but 4.0 makes the comma unusable for me.

I don't see a QR code anywhere to link it with comma connect. I need to reset my device and install openpilot for the QR code to appear?

No, you have probably already done it and forgot about it

try going to connect.comma.ai and logging in with apple, google, or github and see if your device is there.

I’ve never hooked it up through connect or accessed it through a web browser. I bought the device used so I’m guessing that’s got something to do with it. Is there not somewhere to just log out and re-log back in?

No. Unfortunately you will have to track down the previous owner and ask them to go remove it from their account.

if that fails we would have to point you to a 3rd party server.

for now just take pictures of all your BluePilot settings. Maybe something will jump out at me.

Glad you are able to recreate what I am seeing. Turning off the advanced lane positioning setting did help a bit this morning on my drive to work. I was able to take slightly sharper curves but it did still give me a bunch of the "turning exceeds steering limit" warnings that I never did get on bp-2.1. The ping ponging on straightaways did seem better too but not completely gone. I don't know if this is related but the comma kept freaking out and throwing "radar error: restart the car". It would make a ton of noise then just randomly go away, then come back again in 10 minutes, then go away.

The seller I purchased the comma from did reply to my message and said they removed the device from their connect account. I will (hopefully) connect it up this evening and I can share a route if you are still interested.
