Well, seems like from the website prior models of the mache may not get it, but I guess if it does it will probably be a while

They would HAVE to include it in older models because otherwise the subscription would be absolutely worthless to pay for something that'll never update/change. For a car that's supposed to be updatable and spend $50k-60k just to have no more updates to a very major advertised feature (BlueCruise) would be a HUGE failure on Ford's end.

Also, the version numbering of 1.2 would (typically) imply that nothing major has changed to have it function. Having it available on 2023 models right away is hopefully just a selling incentive for people to buy a new car, and not necessarily them giving up on older ones.

Wow finally! Six months later than promised, I thought they scrapped it! BTW the BlueZone map data is provided by HERE. Hopefully Ford pulls an update from them to improve coverage with time.

All the major interstates seem to have very complete coverage but the lesser highways have all kinds of dropouts on the turns. This pattern of cutting in-and-out mid turn has to be just poor quality map data or data processing issue rather than just the radius of the turns:

I completely agree. Mostly because it doesn't cut out on all aggressive curves. I'm picturing a very specific curve on Route 101 in NH. I always expect BC to tell me to put my hands on the wheel at this section of road, especially at night, yet it navigates the curve flawlessly (no ping pong) even at 75 mph.

Wow, that interactive map looks super darn accurate! These curves are part of my typical drive and I can attest it drops hands free mode just as shown.

Ditto for me. It's also interesting how there are small bluecruise sections of road in the middle of bluecruise "deserts"

Agree, it has to get updated or Ford is either going to buried in juggling several different versions of software, or abandon the subscription model altogether.

The other thing to think about when it comes to older models getting 1.2 (and I’m confident we’ll get it). Is we are the data source for any future improvements.

Ford likes to brag that over 75,000 users and 16 million miles have been on Blue Cruise(https://media.ford.com/content/ford...9/08/bluecruise-hands-free-lane-changing.html).

They take the data our cars provide (while driving in BlueCruise) and use it to make these and other improvements. If you cut off the already 75k+ subscribers, you have a new smaller data set for the next update. Not to mention less users to locate issues.

Should probably pump the brakes here on any guarantees that a paid subscription means you get the newest version. If the 1.2 upgrade is hardware based, Ford will plan on charging everyone with old hardware for the original functionality BlueCruise subscription.

I hope I’m wrong, but let’s at least admit it’s possible that functionality is tagged by model year, like it is with so many other things.

Can anyone post a press release that says 1.2 will definitely be offered to prior model vehicles?

In my opinion, this will come to older models eventually. But Ford is smart not to state that. As soon as they say that it's coming, people will be screaming from the roof tops that it was PROMISED by a certain date, which Ford will almost certainly miss. Better to keep it an unexpected bonus than have an angry mob demanding that Ford fulfill their promise immediately.

Your absolutely right, it’s like when they told us our HVBJB is subpar and will break and foolish me wanting a new one right away.

would have been better to not say anything, ignorance is bliss.

I am in South Florida and do mostly local driving - so I'm glad I did not get Blue Cruise - that said - I ran the directions from my house to disney - and the points where blue cruise seems to not be available are around construction areas or areas that tend to have more traffic/ merges / lane shifts - so from that perspective it seems pretty accurate.

I wonder if they will enable / disable blue cruise based on traffic conditions or known construction areas - even if it was previously enabled

This.

This map feature via a website is 6 months past when it was promised. Ford has consistently never met a date it's told us.
