Interesting Crowd Reactions

Since I've had my MME I have gotten A LOT of attention. I'm not used to it and frankly it makes me uncomfortable sometimes.. but it's really funny to see people's reactions.

Basically everyone that's taken a ride in mine has fallen in love with it. But I've also gotten some hate.

Just an example, here's a screenshot of a conversation I had with a friend who I took for a spin:

That's funny. Haters will hate!
Mostly all positive. Most people are enamored with the look of the car from the outside.
The rest ask me questions and the one issue that they seem to continually fail to grasp is that it's not a hybrid. It usually goes like this:

Me: ... and also, it's electric!
Them: Oh, so it's a hybrid? Cool!
Me: No.... it's fully electric. Battery only.
Them: Right, electric.... hybrid?
Me: No. (Shows them the frunk)
Them: I don't understand. Where's the engine?
Me: ?‍ It's *fully electric*. There's no engine.
Them: But, where's the motor? How does it move?
Me: It's Ford's Tesla.
Them: Ohhhhh..... But where's the motor?

I've had 99% positive reactions and recently one that was a lukewarm neutral at best. I was at a red light and a guy pulls up next to me and lowers his window. I lower mine too, expecting him to heap tons of praise like everyone else.

Instead he says "is that the new Mustang? It's nice. But the tires are a bit skinny. I was driving behind you and they just look really skinny compared to the rest of the car "

At least he was nice about it!

I stopped at a gas station the other day in my MME. (Yes really). I was going in to get a bottle of water actually. Both attendants inside asked about the car and ditched the customers for a minute while they took turns going outside to look at it. yes, still had to pay for my water.

A random Amazon delivery driver in my neighborhood felt compelled to yell “Not a Mustang” as we drove past each other at 20mph.

I agree with your capitalizing a "..LOT..". On every errand I run, I plan on extra time. I've had people waiting by the car while I'm in the store then spending 10 minutes asking questions while the ice cream melts. Now, I drive my "real Mustang" when I'm planning to buy perishables.

No hate, although I have had a few "is that really a Mustang?" questions. I answer... "Ford seems to think so."

My biggest surprises has been the age breakdown. The 20s and under crowd usually know what it is and show the most enthusiastic response. Guys from the 55 and over Mustang generation frequently know what it is and express positive vibes. Those in the middle range offer "nice car" but tend not to know what it is.

You BEV'd an ICE refueling station??

Just finished up test driving one for a few days again and during that time, I had mostly positive reactions. Most people would smile and point from a distance when they saw me at the charger with it. In traffic, lots of rubber-necking as I drove by or pulled up beside someone. Only got one thumbs up from a ICE mustang on the road, all the others I saw never so much as turned their heads. A few people have flat out told me, "it's not a mustang" including a co worker the first day I drove it to work after I picked it up to drive for a few days. A few others approached me while in a parking lot to ask about it. A couple people confused that it's all electric. I showed one person where the charge port is and they asked where I put the gas in. It seems pretty mixed but I still can't wait to have mine and keep getting all the reactions and questions.

It's Ok. There were no regular parking spots and it was only unmasked tourists at the station.

Besides, other than the attendants I think everyone else was oblivious.

If I was at that gas station and saw THAT Mach-E, I would go out and take a look too - Infinite Blue looking pretty stunning under what looks like an overcast Hawaiian sun!

My regular mailman is amazed that one of the new electric Mustangs is on his route. He loves it!

My wife and I have gotten a ton of positive comments and a lot of questions. I think she's made 1 or 2 sales (or would, if you could actually buy one).

Only negative comment was a guy who asked, "Will that thing beat a Honda Odyssey 0-60?" Now it's 20 degrees out, I'm on my third Electrify America charger because none of them work, and I'm not exactly in a mood to play car trivia.
