I had a chance to test drive the Mach e yesterday (Select AWD) and really enjoyed it. The dealer I visited had several Selects on the lot including an Infinite Blue which my wife and I thought was the nicest color. I hadn't seen that color whenever I tried to build it on the website and so searched here only to learn that it has been discontinued. Does anyone know if that is permanent? I was wondering if anyone here was aware of any talk of bringing it back at some point?

As an aside, I really enjoyed my test drive. I have an 8 yr old Audi Q5 and I like the general ride of that car including handling and suspension. Apart from the obvious power train difference and what I thought was tighter handling, I did find the suspension to be comparable which was a plus for me (I recall a few similar comments on posts that I've read). My plan is to order the Premium AWD with extended range battery, just need to figure out color. This forum has been invaluable in helping me learn about the car and its features (warts and all, which fortunately don't strike me as deal breakers), so thanks to all.

Who knows? Ford had a reason to drop it mid-year but whether it will return is as big a mystery as why they dropped it in the first place. There's been lots of speculation about both questions in another thread that started when IB first vanished.

It has been discontinued. I placed an order with a dealer back in May, and wanted Infinite Blue color. Ended up ordering a CA Route 1 in Space White. A few weeks later I found an Infinite Blue Route 1 at another dealer and bought it off the lot. Had to pay a 2.5K markup, but it was worth it to me, got it sooner and got the color I really wanted. At the time, another dealer had a White Route 1, and had marked it up 10K.

IB is showing as available on some other Ford vehicles after having vanished for a while. Whether it makes it back to the mach-e is another question. There was a fire at a paint pigment factory some time ago that may have contributed to the color changes we saw (carbonized grey was removed as well iirc).

Not having a readily available blue just isn't right imo.

Wait, a fire at the paint pigment factory caused color changes? It must have turned IB and CG into Dark Matter.

It could happen. Sweep up the ashes and toss them in. :p

I may be getting old Mark, but I genuinely do not understand the 11 shades of grey trends. Seems to me there should be a white, a red, a blue, a grey, and then a few other variations to round it out. Unless they're making grabber blues available for 2022 (Please no, it should be a special color), they're sort of missing. Just my opinion, I've been known to be wrong.

I agree. It's bad enough for boring cars but to put boring colors on a Mustang is an abomination. Of course, I drive GB!

Then again what would I know? I live in a state where the most popular car (by a long shot) is the Toyota Tacoma and the most popular color? White ... by a huge margin.

How is popularity of a color defined? I suspect if prices and availability were not a consideration popular colors would be vastly different. My choice of Infinite Blue was because it was the only "color" beside Red which my wife's car already is...

As someone in the IB group, I'm biased.

Most cars have white, black and silver. But sporty cars tend to have blue and red. Missing blue is a large hole in the Mach-E color pallete that I expect Ford to address for model year 22. This is speculation but I think they are trying to finish build out of 21 models and will have some sort blue for 22. Eitger IB or something else blue.

Me too.

If I had been restricted to the current color palate when I was ordering way back in January 2020 (no Grabber blue), there's an excellent chance I'd have passed on the MME. We have 2 red vehicles right now. Rapid red was out. Grabber Blue was FE only. Grey is mostly boring. Over half the cars out here are white, as are all but one Tesla that I've ever seen.

Where's the antimatter blue? Where's the performance blue? Where's the infinite blue? Heck, where's any blue?

I would have gone with Iconic Silver if IB was not available when I placed my order. The MME looks great in that color. At least in pics. I've yet to see it in person.

I agree that it seems like some version of blue should be part of any car's color palette. To that end, I'm betting that Infinite Blue makes a comeback in the 2022 model.

BTW, I had an Infinite Blue order prior to it being discontinued and I wondered if that contributed to what was a relatively quick build: I ordered Feb 23 and build was May 30. Maybe the pending discontinuation had something to do with that?
