I know it seems like a dumb question, and it probably is....I just wanted to see everyone's take on charging inside a garage. I notice a lot of EV's in my neighborhood (California) have their chargers setup outside and charge in their driveway. Our garage is attached to our home and I am planning on having an electrician install a Chargepoint charger with a NEMA 14-50 plug installed inside the garage where the builder of our home has already prewired to a blank box on the wall. Thanks!!!

Virtually every charging event my car has had has happened in my garage. Coming up on two years of ownership and I have never had an issue.

You really shouldn't charge in your garage. Park it in mine instead. And leave a key in case I need to move it out of the way. ;)

Totally safe to charge in the garage.

If it is properly installed, should be no issue at all.

If your neighborhood is anything like my neighborhood, it's because their garages are filled with all their crap so they can't fit a car in there anyways...

I think I'm the only person on my street who puts their car in their garage because it's not filled with stuff. I put a smart smoke alarm that's tied to my security system in there, just in case.

When we moved into this house some 23+ years ago, we tried parking the cars inside. Way too narrow of an opening. And at the time, it was sliding barn doors, so only one side at a time could be opened, and no garage door opener. So we just would park in the drive and filled the garage with stuff. Eventually replaced the garage doors with rollup ones and openers.

This is my 7th year of owning an EV. I have charged in the garage the whole time. Before the MME, it was everyday.
