The frunk's best security feature is that very few even know it exists. I forget about it most of the time and I own the car!
on my 21 in 2.5 years I opened it maybe two or three times. On my 23 I've only opened it once.

It's gotta be the safest place in the car for a backpack with a laptop.
It is secure alright.
It took the dealership's shop two days to open it and retrieve my laptop from it when the latching mechanism failed to open and another two days to fix it.

For larger items if you must store them in the vehicle the frunk is probably the best bet simply because it is 1) out of sight and 2) takes the longest to get to. Typically smash and grab thieves are trying to operate as fast as possible. See my unfortunate experience with this here: https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...ord-can-we-have-sentry-mode.24246/post-564238

For other smaller things consider a center console lock box:

Ford: https://accessories.ford.com/vehicle-safe-by-console-vault

Once you break into the car, it literally takes 2 seconds to pop the hood.
If you know there's storage up there. Most thieves won't.

Yes, compare to rest of the car. I checked if car is locked, windows brake it can't open hood. It's locked and 2x latch not able open frunk.

If the window is broken, the thief can open the door, unlocking the car.

Since the frunk can be opened simply by applying 12 volts to the wires hidden in the front bumper, would you say it's a bad idea to store valuables in the frunk?
I agree that nothing real valuable should be stored in the car. Install a console safe for approx $150 for occasional use. I keep my toll transponder & registration in it. Some people use these as temporary gun safes.

I have the consolevault in another vehicle but it’s a closed box bolted through the bottom. Not sure i really trust 4 small screws in plastic (Also might not fit the legal definition for storing certain items in a locked box that’s not a center console/glovebox). Btw don’t pay extra for the ford one, they get it from consolevault and it’s $50 cheaper on their site (or you can wait for a deal). The amazon one is still cheaper than both though.

I've seen windows smashed for loose change visible in the console! Thieves "look" for opportunities, so keep this in mind. Don't leave anything in plain view and that means anything, your smashed window has zero value to a thief.
When I go shopping and have several stops, I keep my goods under the provided cover in the rear trunk. Unfortunately Ford has not deamed me worthy of a frunk button for easy access or the parts for my hvbjb safety recall for that matter.
When I use my f-150 Lightning the frunk is the go to spot for everything!

This is very true. Even if you’re still in the vehicle it’s good to not leave anything in view. In Certain cities nearby, people will smash your window and steal your bags while you sit in traffic lol.

True, but as previously written in this thread, smash and grabs are in it for the quick score. The extra few seconds that it takes to open the driver’s door, then pull the release 2x, then open the frunk lid are typically not something a smash and grabber wants to spend. Obviously there are some outliers, but the majority of the smashed window thieves are not going to do this. 🤷‍♂️🐩

You're safe because you have those "Warning! Frunk Poodle!" stickers on your windows. Ain't no one gunna mess with that!

I wish everyone could open their frunk with just mind control.
And although I do have Sync and FordPass buttons for the frunk, I tend to use the handle most of the time. It's so natural to since that's how I open the hood on every other vehicle I've owned for years.

Well, my frunk is usually open because I’m chilling in it. 😊🐩
