I’ve had my Premium for about a year and I keep wondering: is the temperature display on the screen accurate for you?

In my last car, a Honda, it was basically dead on. On my Mach-E it seems to always be within about 10 degrees F but in either direction. Usually the more extreme direction (hotter when hot, colder when cold.) Kind of annoys me.

But recently I realized it’s often pretty close to the “feels like” temperature. So now I’m wondering if that’s purposeful or just a coincidence.

So… is it accurate for you?

Depends on whether I interpret it as the interior or exterior temp. Yes for the former, and not so much for the latter. Should prolly read up on this.

The temp sensor needs air flowing over it to be accurate. It's located above the grille shutters situated in a hole. If you had clear bra installed, make sure they cut the hole open so air can flow past.

When parked in the sun, the temp sensor is going to read high because of the radiant heat reflected from the ground hitting it. There is an averaging algorithm built into the display such that it will take up to 5 minutes of driving above 20 MPH before the reading fully adjusts to reality.

While driving mid day here in NJ it said 97-100 but I think the actual temp was closer to 92-94. I did a quick run to the EZ pass place and used the auto Start on the app to cool off the car while I was inside filling out some things. What a great feature.

There is nothing installed on my car. It always reads wrong at first, I know it has to calibrate. It’s after I’ve been driving at round I’m surprised about.

The temp displayed on the sync screen matches the exact temp of the front compartment tub. Which can get much much warmer than ambient. I have checked it several times with an IR thermometer and the two readings always match, except for the one time where I filled it with ice....

Granted the car had been conditioning the cabin for a while.
You have to consider the location of the sensor. It is above the grille shutters down by the road surface.

Mike, I installed an 18K BTU mini-split AC system in my friend's garage in Surprise, AZ (he bought my Premium) and he keeps the temp around 78. It works great plus he has a nice cool garage to work on projects during the summer. $1450 from Costco and it is a DIY system with pre-charged lines. It took the entire day to install but turned out perfect. Worked so well, I just installed one in my garage even though our summer temps here (95-105) average less than were he is.

Nice. I wonder what it will do to his electric bill? Hopefully he insulated the garage well. I keep telling myself I need to order a couple of the insulation kits for my doors. My garage faces south and they get ridiculously hot. 🔥🔥

I am pretty sure there is another sensor behind the radiator. I don't really know what that sensor is for above the intake louvers but if that is supposed to be ambient temp then it is not accurate.

I took my car through a car wash yesterday. Outside temp was about 80, after the wash the car read about 60 for 15 minutes or so until I assume it had dried off.

Thanks had PPF in the front put on two weeks ago. They didn't cut the hole for the temp sensor. I just did it right now.

Hey Mike, so this particular MrCool 18K BTU mini-split is a very efficient 20 seer unit. When running it pulls around 6.8 amps or around 1271 watts at 240 volts. Everyone's electric rate is different but say you paid 14 cents per kWh, this unit would cost about 18 cents per hour. That's really not bad at all however both I and my friend have solar so that's what powers our units.

Maybe Ford decided to use a bi-metalic strip for a temperature sensor. Readings are way hot on warm days. -4deg F for my rough hand waving adjustment for afternoon driving.
