Key Fobs not available?

So my dealer promised me a second key fob when I asked for one. That was three months ago. Got the car and he says the fob is "on backorder". He probably did not order it until car came in, but that is another issue. Anyone have any luck finding these things?

they actually have 10+ in stock, That's where I ordered mine a month agon because it was out of stock at that time too

They've on back order from Ford Parts for at least 2 months, maybe more. I got one from Car and Truck Remotes for $80, but the price has now gone up $130.

Good luck EVER getting one from Ford. Any they get are going toward new cars. Your best bet is a third party that can get them direct from the manufacturer, circumventing the Ford supply chain.

Cars & trucks remotes.. Currently on sale for 100 bucks.. OEM Fob.. Dealer programmed it in about an hour.. PAAK sucks.. Second fob now stashed in car in a Faraday bag if needed. WW

Agree. Got 2 there and had both FEs programmed on Friday. Dealer charged $125 each....ouch. we used (all) Ford pass points and $32 bucks.

Yup, I only paid about $30 for a fob direct from Ford. Maybe that price is why they sold out so quickly. Carandtruckremotes.com probably bought them all

They charged you for each? That’s kinda slimy since they can do both at the same time for well under an hour of labor. My dealer said they were going to charge me for an hour of labor, but they must have forgotten when I came back to buy the car because the charge wasn’t added.

Yes they did. I argued a bit. They said they have been Charing $125 to program keys for 5 years. No key or tax included. Note I did not purchase either MME there, but they are our dealer.

Yeah, you’re pretty much at the mercy of the dealers, unfortunately. It’s too late now, but you can actually program a new fob yourself if you already have two fobs paired to the car.

I think that's a 2 MME family. If so ...

But yeah, when/if I get a third I'll try programing it.

General question for the group: has anyone checked cost with a locksmith for the fob and/or programming? Likely cheaper than a dealer and at least here in the Phoenix area they will come to you.

IIRC, several people in this other thread stated that they called locksmiths and couldn't find any that could program their fob for them.
