Kia claims that the 2022 EV6 will add 210 miles to the battery under 18 minutes. Is that a function of the vehicle or is dependent on the type of charger used? Regardless, that's amazing. If this is true, Ford needs to add this technology.

Both.

1. The vehicle needs the battery architecture to support it.

2. The charger has to be able to output that kind of power.

Kia's promotional material says it uses an 800v battery platform so in theory it could do that. Whether that's a feature of all models remains to be seen.

I wonder how many charging stations out there are compatible with 800V? If you did a lot of road trips that speed of charging would probably be nice. The range is less than MME, so you would be charging more often. Ford will get there soon enough, the Mach-E was designed 2 years ago.

If the EV6 lives up to the hype it will be strong competition I think. The Car to Load feature (like the Ford F150 Lightning but in a car sized package) so the car can power your house in an emergency, I find particularly appealing.

The EV6's MSRP is only 1400 lower than the MME GT. Their GT version is probably going to be 10k more than that...quite a pricey Kia.

I thought the GT version was the only one for which pricing was available? (i.e. one of the 1500 pre-orders), at something like $58K and 500+HP both of which are higher than I care for). I'd like to see the base AWD and the RWD pricing.

EV6 first edition 58,500 MSRP. AWD, 265 miles of range, 320 hp. Kind of a weak proposition IMO.

thanks for the correction on the first edition EV6's hp. The MacE premium AWD at $55,400 for 270 miles of range and 346hp seems pretty similar (but without car2load and haven't compared feature for feature).
