Probably been covered here, but looking for recommendation for level 2 wall charger to use with Mach-E. I wired 6 gauge from a subpanel in my garage to 2 boxes (one in front of each bay - back wall) of my garage. Looking for a wallmounted unit to plug into 220. Would be nice to be able to control with app and schedule for overnight charging. I'd want to be able to do this for 2 vehicles and alternate charging times.

What are you using as a level 2 EVSE? What would you recommend?

ChargePoint Home Flex. Very happy with it so far. Check to see if your utility offers any rebates/discounts.

lots of level 2 EVSE recommendation threads with plenty of information and discussion. I'm too lazy to look them up for you, but they are available if you're interested

Check out this Youtube channel, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdX0BJNon1c6GfOdeS3pyDw

Pretty small channel, just came across his channel when I was looking at the Wallbox Pulsar charger. I personally think I'll end up going with that one after we move.

^^^^ Great resource. I used the same.
I ended up with the 2nd Gen JuiceBox 40 - my only slight complaint is that the cable is really thick doesn't like to be lopped over the holder when stored. (mentioned in the the review). I chose this one mainly for the long cable.

But otherwise works very well with my Energi. (Grumpy GTPE future owner)

What's wrong with using the provided Ford Plug with a 50A 240V attachment? Just need to use a garage 240v 50A appliance outlet.

Nothing's wrong with doing so. On a 240V outlet, it's fast enough for overnight charging.

However, with federal tax credits and in many cases utility rebates, it's a good time to get a dedicated EVSE installed. Most of them have longer cords than the mobile charger, faster charging (for when needed) and you can also get ones with better monitoring to track energy use/cost. None of those are essential, but if able to get something better for about the same total cost (after tax credit and rebates) as having a NEMA 14-50 installed, why not? It also allows you to keep the mobile charger in the car just in case it's needed.

+1 on checking your utility company rebates first.

We could buy an Enel X Juice Box or a ChargePoint Home Flex and get $500 back.

Then try to find one...

As long as you are happy with the charging rate you get, nothing. If you need to recharge faster, you will need a more powerful L2 charger.

But installing a NEMA 14-50 also qualifies for the tax credit, so that's only an advantage to the extent the dedicated EVSE is more expensive than the 14-50 install, right?

Thanks for all the input. I guess I do not need to know about how to install as I already have everything wired. A breaker in the box and outlet on the wall once I get a charger is all that is left. Looked into rebates and while helpful, just looking for recommendations for features, options of chargers that might work better than others for Mach-E. I have many voice activated wifi and Z-wave devices working with Google Asst and may be interested in anything that might support. How smart does this need to be in practice? Anyone with smart chargers, brands or experiences that have proven helpful.
