It happened. I know it will happen some day but not this early.
Wife did a minor fender bender with a palisade while backing-up in Target parking lot.
(palisade owner took our insurance details and it will take its course)

But for the MachE, what are your thoughts,
How expensive it would be. It looks like a pretty big piece of trim/plastic to replace(its not metal so no dent repair I guess).
My insurance is 500 deductible. Should I just suck it up and live with it ?

That sucks. I am sorry to hear it. At least nobody was hurt it looks like.

Only you can decide if it is worth the $500 deductible to fix, but since there will already be a claim with the Hyundai, I would have it fixed as I know it would bug me every time I saw it.

Just out of curiosity, do you have the emergency braking option turned on? I know with it on in my car if I am backing up and get too close to a car behind me it will auto brake to avoid hitting the object behind me.

Sorry for you, that is unfortunate. I'd get it repaired - it's a beautiful car, and every time you open the hatch you will see it. That would drive me nuts.

oh yes, I forgot to mention in my Original Post, "Reverse Brake Assist" is turned on. It should have automatically brake right ? Also it does not brake for me too when I reserve too close to the wall(just audio beep)

I never claimed insurance ever before - but my understanding is, if I repair through insurance it will be reported(negative mark on the car and decrease the value of the car)

First, hopefully you're not saying the car should stop your wife from backing into another car, i.e. she's not responsible to know her surroundings?

Reverse Brake Assist MAY stop you from backing into something. MAY. The car provides warnings, including the beeping, and a picture showing what's close, to tell you of the issue. It may, or may not, apply the brakes. If you then push on the accelerator, it keeps going. There are all sorts of warnings in the manual about when it may not work. And, if it applies the brakes, and you don't step on the brake pedal, it may release the brakes.

If you repair the car, the body shop will most likely report it.

If you damaged another car, that will be reported.

In short, this is an at fault accident. It will likely result in higher insurance rates.

Just FYI - Reverse brake assist works between 1 - 7 MPH. Maybe over or under that speed.

Is the damage just that top lip? I'd so an aftermarket spoiler could cover it. I got a nice one from AOSK that has held up well.

AOSK for Mustang Mach E Rear Spoiler Trunk Spoiler Wing, Compatible with Mustang mach e Exterior Accessories 2021 2022(Glossy Black) https://a.co/d/eCC5PMx

hmm, I guess you are right. Yes the damage is only on the top lip portion and this spoiler should cover it(in theory). I Will do it in the next week and update here.

ha ha ha you cheered me up.
Now let me put generous face and goto wife(pretty sad she did it) and say, "its okay my dear, life happens".

This forum is awesome

Yeah, seems odd rear brake assist didn't kick in. I wonder why. Not working or wife overrode it with accelerator?

You buy a 50k car and can’t afford $500 deductible. Amazing. BTW it’s always the “wife’s” fault
