Not a "direct" competitor to the Mach E but: The new battery-powered vehicle will be produced at the Hermosillo Assembly Plant in Mexico. The vehicle will be built atop Rivian's flexible skateboard platform. Yes this is the same plant the Mach E will be built at and Ford's future EV Transit Concept. Thought the Mach-E will be built at CuautitlƔn ? (North of Mexico City) At least this is where the partially assembled vehicle pictures came from...

Hermosillo is far from Mexico City???

Correct, different plants. Same country though.

Wish they'd show us what the vehicle is gonna be. A larger vehicle than the Mach-e might be of interest.

Might be a fall back option if not happy with the Mach E once can do a test drive. That said, there are many new EV vehicles coming out for 2022 (and 2023-2025) model years... Saying that price and specs unseen.... Mach E definitely has the timing advantage...

I assume Lincoln still counts as part of Ford in regard to the 200,000 vehicle cap for the federal tax credit. Pretty sure the secondary brands count under the single corporate umbrella.

While I do expect this crisis to push that 200k target out a few more quarters, not sure it'll make it as far as this future Lincoln.

Yeah, it will be close at best, but I suspect Ford is gaming the system so a bunch of new qualifying models (2022) get released that same quarter.... (it doesn't change mid quarter) If not, then it would probably at least qualify for the phase-out with 50% or $3750.

So 50,000 for the Mach E 2021 model year, and 1,000 * 24 months of other vehicles... The Q4 2021 for 2022 models should be good for the full discount....

The Ford Escape PHEV is supposed to be out this summer. I think that will count against the quota too.

The total only counts cars sold in the US. If the 60/40 split is correct, then thatā€™s 20,000 Mach E counted towards that total (minus cars sold in Canada). Fordā€™s credit should easily make it for a couple more years.

The 60/40 is more for 2020 sales to meet their quota, it will depend more on what the market does for what sells in 2021, and I think based on the reservations they are expecting it closer to 50/50 even if they would like to be 60/40...

That said, you are right, not all 50,000 will be counted as US sales..... probably between 20k and 30k....

Yes, but I figured that would fall under their 1000/month, or do you expect that to have more sales?

It's anybody's guess, I suppose. But the Escape is pretty popular vehicle in general, and with tax credits, will be available for under $30,000. It has the potential to be a good seller, but it'll also be competing with the regular versions (non-PHEV) that enjoy dirt cheap gasoline this year too. And sadly, the PHEV is only available in 2WD.

Oddly, I'm finding very little recent info about it. The articles from last year say "available in the Spring", but now I wonder.
