I think you have it backwards: I think this screen is asking the user (you) to pick a PIN to get it out of valet mode. Enter a PIN here (1234) and then you have to re-enter the PIN (1234) to get it out of valet mode. Its a 1-time PIN that the car wouldn't remember after valet mode is exited (and thus you'll have to pick a PIN each time).
It would have been handy to see the next screen to see if the Mach E randomly assigns the PIN you give the valet or if it is user definable.
Yes, this screen sets the PIN to enable/disable Valet Mode. I would like to see the next screen that issues the Valet PIN -- is that one user definable or is it delivered to you? It would be nice to have either option.
I don't think that is there is another screen where you define/set the PIN code. This screen says 'selected by the user' = you. Then it says enter a 4 digit PIN. So you get to enter what the PIN is to lock the SYNC system right on this screen.
@hybrid2bev I believe what @ChasingCoral is asking is, if this PIN locks Sync in Valet Mode, what PIN does the valet use to start the car. You wouldn’t give the pin you set to lock Sync to the valet otherwise they could unlock the Sync system.
Right. Do you have to give the valet a key fob or can you give them a code or code/pair. I wouldn't want to give out the "master" codes.
Makes sense to just give one long code that operates door and start. I wonder why Mach E doesn't seem to use that automatic disable of Valet Mode when your phone enters the car?
perhaps you chose to leave your phone in the car because you're at a fancy dinner or play or something and know you shouldn't/won't use it? Turning off the phone wouldn't help since the valet could just turn it on - Bluetooth would come up right away.
