I'm not the type to make bold absolute proclamations like "I will never...."

Eaten too much crow over the near 70 years of making such a mistake. ?

Still, I currently have 2 Ford products with the factory installed B-pillar numerical TouchPad and find the functionality as part of the enjoyment of ownership experience. Daily. Literally. It's part of the Brand, in my opinion.

I could very well purchase a vehicle from Ford in the future that doesn't have the feature, but I don't find it appealing to consider.

Once you get back in put you key code in the notes app in your phone
Which is useful if
a) you didn't lock your phone in the car
and
b) neither PaaK nor the FordPass app will open the car

I accidentally pressed the button on the door when the door was open. the key was left in the car. I slammed the door and that's it. now I can't open it. the card with the password for the door is in the trunk, I don't remember the password. there is no other key at all. what are the options to open it? I heard that you can get the factory password for the door, which doesn't change, it is connected to the vin number. and what are the other options to open the car? and why did it close with the key inside?
Did you call OnStar?

This won’t help you now but I set up a door code that I can’t forget. I created a MME contact in my phone and put a code hint in the notes. (You can store the code but I’m paranoid).

If you use a password manager many will allow you store encrypted notes and you could store the code there if you are really security concerned.
That is what I did in Notes I took a picture of the card with the original code and then created a new personal code and added that in the Mach-e note, I also added the password to use if the car doesn't recognize the key which did happen a few times since I bought car 3 years ago. I hide a Airtag in the car and added the description where I hid it so I can find it when I sell the car or need to replace the battery. Then I lock the Memo so it uses face recognition to open the memo with all that important information.

I lock my keys in my car almost every day! The door code works great. Add in a 7 and you open the frunk. Great for running/hiking/swimming.

First thing I did before driving the car (23 gt) off the lot was to set my own code for the door key pad so that I would never forget it. Less than a one-minute exercise.
Until an OTA clears your code without you knowing. I speak from terrible experience. Memorize the factory door code.

Keypads are being discontinued by Ford starting in 2025.
What a shame, that’s always been a selling point with Fords…be able to protect my keys at the beach without needing to carry some device.

And I love the backup of being able to get in and start the car without ANY device, only what’s in my brain.

Dealer accessory, $455.
I don't think it's being de-contented on MME or made optional on MME. Just other vehicles with a more traditional securicode.

Door pillar code entry and start code is two of the things I really like about my MME. I do use them enough to remember them. DON'T TAKE THEM AWAY ON THE NEW MODELS.
