For the past year or so i've had a lot of noise in my cabin when driving at speed. I'm pretty sure the noise is from the Mache cutting through the wind, not unlike if you cracked a window, but the noise isn't quite to that level. Though, it still forces me to keep my radio turned up fairly loud or when talking to the passenger you must speak in a loud voice. I suspect perhaps this is from the seals around my pano roof leaking/failing, but i am not equipped to really determine that.
Has anyone else experience something like this?

A few notes:
  1. I know what the propulsion sound is. i have it off. This sound is much louder
  2. I have had the service recall performed where the put the weather stripping stuff between the pano and windshield. The problem actually did seem a bit better after that service, albeit not by much.
  3. Why have I been annoyed for a year? Cause my Dealership SUCKS (Sam Pack's In Carrolton, TX) There level of service is very poor. Getting them to do anything is like pulling teeth. Forcing me to just 'live with it' and be annoyed, because it was less annoying then talking with them. e.x. It took me several calls over a period of about a month to even get the Recall services scheduled. And then i had to wait 3 months to get them, and then i had to immediately bring my car back after they 'finished' because they had neglected to do them all. I suspect some of my issues are growing pains from having Ford's first EV, but this still seems ridiculous to me. One time i took it in and the service was taking a long time, when i got tired of waiting and reached out, i discovered my car had been sitting outside on their lot for over a week and that they decided there was nothing wrong and had actually done nothing. They just 'forgot' to call me. Every time i've brought up the road noise, it doesn't seem like they believe me, and then they say they'll have their peeps look at it, and then they tell me it's fine. IT IS NOT FINE!
  4. How do i know it's not 'normal' road/wind noise? This is simple, and as anyone who has bought a premium can confirm. This car was whisper quiet when i got it. It was so enjoyable to just cruise around. And now, i always have this whooshing in the car, which gets louder (naturally) with speed, but even at low speed i still notice it, just when i get going faster on the freeway it's really really loud, Like if i crack a window the noise that it generates isn't much more than w/o the window cracked.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Were you able to get the dealership to actually fix it? Any DIY solutions? I've thought about just caulking over all the seams for the pano roof, but besides that looking terrible, i don't know if it would actually help, or worse, if it makes any future fixes harder to perform.
It's pretty amazing to me, how this car went from my favorite possession to causing me grief. ALL THE TIME.

We have a trip coming up to MI (from TX) and I'm seriously considering trading it in, Just because the idea of driving 20hours while getting blasted by that noise truly sounds like hell.

I assume the roof glass and windshield recall has been done? That reduced mine dramatically and they didn’t even do a great job.

Actually what is the decibel level specified by Ford for our MME at various speeds on normal highways and concrete roads.

Example Motor trend did a review and said Nissan Ariyam has 64decibels and it's quiet.

Mine sound more likely coming from the side mirror. If you put tape over where mirror is attached to door noise is greatly reduced. They say if you want a quiet car get an EV. But there is always exceptions to the rule. MACH-E is that exception.

Only real way to see if it’s “normal” is to drive another Mach E.

The problem you’re facing with your dealer isn’t surprising. They can only fix a “noise” if something is broken. If nothing broken, nothing to fix.

The biggest reason why noise is an issue is the car is so quiet. Throw a v8 under the hood and you won’t hear wind noise.

There are multiple known causes though and an easy test to see if that’s your problem.

Take blue painters tape and cover the gap on the top of your windshield.

Also do it around your side view mirrors.

Then test.

If it’s the windshield, you can buy foam rope for $10 and fill the gap.

Going to the dealer to say “I can hear wind when I move my 5,000 lb metal vehicle through the air at 75 mph,” won’t really help you though.

Hi there, I'd be happy to look into your Mach-E concerns on my end. Will you send us a message with your VIN and dealership info? I can look into things on my end.

In the California regional forums there is a thread on "Wind Noise" with the taping instructions (3rd page of the thread) to which doogie63 is referring. There appears to be a gap where the mirror is attached to the car allowing wind noise to enter the cabin. I used black electrical tape to tape over that gap.

With the number of complaints about this on this Forum and Reddit, I would think Ford would have a solution for this by now. I am going to contact my dealer again to see if it can be fixed permantly. I have already taken the car in once for this issue (I thought the dealer corrected the issue by reinitializing the power window, but it did not).

I took mine in to dealer too. They told me they then test drove another Mach-E and it had the same wind noise. So, they said my car was just normal wind noise, lol. I was like really. They are all built the same so of course another Mach-E will have the same noise. I told try putting tape on both and watch the noise decrease big time. And as far as normal take a ride in my fusion and see how much quieter it is over the Mach-E. So as of now no Ford fix. DIY fix is tape or turn radio up, lol.

Wind noise comes from the top of the windshield being under flush or the trim gap in front of the side mirror. On a properly built car you shouldn’t notice wind noise until you’re going 80+ MPH.

Ford needs to fix this. If you order a Mach-E take it for test drive first. You might change your mind on buying. I have had a 65 mustang, 69 Fairlane, 83 T-Bird, 97 Taurus, escort, 04 Taurus. Ford man all the way. But never had 1 with this loud of wind noise. This is not normal.

Hey there! Can you please send me a DM with your VIN and dealer name/location so I can look into this wind noise concern for you? I'd be happy to see what I can do to assist!

my car has no perceptible wind noise below ~80... I bet you can track down the culprit with some painters tape.

I already did all this and Ford made me appointment at my dealer. They said it was normal wind noise. Lol. Test drive my fusion and you will not hear it. I did the tape thing and noise almost completely goes away. But not going to ride around in a new car with tape on it.

The point of the tape is to pinpoint where the problem is... windshield / glass roof etc. need to be reinstalled properly.
