May I ask what put you off about the Tesla?
Watch “Rich Rebuilds” on YouTube for all the reasons lol.
For me it’s:
Poor customer service, build speed > quality control checks, good luck buying replacement parts (although i hear this has gotten a tiny bit better), major repairs take forever (even before the pandemic) and service centers are limited which leads to insurance companies hitting the “Totaled” button more often, no written guarantee that any purchased software upgrades (FSD) will transfer to the new owner (especially with trade in), and constantly changing MSRP. Prioritizing the more expensive orders was hilarious though.

Test drove the 3 and Y before driving the MME, but all on the same day.

The bar was set by the Teslas, so after having driven the MME, it became clear to me that Ford had done their homework. The MME was superior to me in every way when driving.

The addition of the tax rebate made ordering one even sweeter.

Mostly due to high used car prices. People are selling their 2019 models for what they paid, 2020 and 2021 models are selling 10-20% over what they paid.
Can confirm, sold a leased XC40 to GiveMeTheVin.com for nearly 4k. (Yes, a lease, I got nearly a 4k check, they sent Volvo the rest to pay off what I owed)

Took that and got a Mach-E after cancelling my Model Y.

Nearly was an MY owner until Elon decided to try and spin a chip-shortage into 'here's Tesla Vision!'

It was obviously coming, but they pushed that shit from Dev to Prod, 5 features weren't NHTSA when they made the announcement.

Insult to injury, this was just after MDW when the car was ordered 2 months earlier, it was reported

a) no more passenger lumbar - totally not a chip shortage, no one uses it
b) no more radar - but tesla vision is amazing! btw it needs auto-brights, speed is limited and 50% of the "AutoPilot' features are no longer NHTSA approved. But soon!

The final straw was Tesla's subreddit. We had just returned after taking the girlfriends $81/mo Leaf Lease (love NJ + incentives / Leasehackr) to Amish country. Used whatever Nissan calls assisted cruise control. It got us there just fine in terrible rain. Someone on the subreddit took delivery of his Model Y w/o Radar a few days earlier and it refused to activate due to weather.

Another thread poster said he had more success but didn't like using it, because Radar-less AP at the time required Auto-Brights. which apparently didn't cancel out well, except on road-sign reflections. So it was autopilot and blind people, or just drive.

That's when I phoned up a few dealers about the Mach-E. I know the electronics in these are not reliable. Like British leyland reliable, so I kind of walked into the current issue I'm having - center screen has stopped working.

I've always quoted - like in Jurassic Park, when it comes to ford and failing electronics - life finds a way.

I've managed my expectations and even messaged a pic of the center screen to my M3 owning boss who I usually shit on for paint glitches I've noticed around the car.

I am no MME stan, but I'll be damned if this car hasn't made me a people person... if only not to be rude to the people who approach asking questions, and how no, it's not 70k... it's like mid 40's if your dealer knows what the hell Ford Options didn't. Mine decided not to offer me Ford options and lied about the tax credit.

If the next model of these go direct to consumer, I might actually get one. But after 4 cars via lease brokers, Ford reminded me why I hate car dealers and their shady tactics (Route 22 in NJ, what do you expect)

Could be. That's just it, I'm not personally comparing to Tesla. We didn't even consider them much beyond running through the online build process for due diligence. Our serious contender is the XC40 Recharge.
I actually was going to get an XC40 Recharge. I made out like a bandit on my 2020 XC40 and it was the best car I've ever driven. But at 208 miles range, a $60k price tag (good luck finding any models under $55k, cut off for rebates here) it was actually cheaper to get a Tesla Model Y.

I even was looking at the PoleStar 2 (same architecture and company basically) but again - priced out.

My loaded XC40 T5 R-Design was 46k. How they're pricing the equivalent at roughly $60k is beyond me, otherwise I'd be in another XC40 right now.

2021 was the year I was priced out an XC40 Recharge, so reserved a Model Y, which I cancelled after waiting 2 months because they removed Radar + passenger lumbar.

So I got a Mustang Mach E. No regrets (yet)

I own a Mach E premium and am currently driving the company Tesla Model 3.
I can’t stop comparing them. Some really big differences. I like the thinness of the keycard, however swiping on the door and middle console is cumbersome- I haven’t tried to use the phone- maybe that’s less annoying??

the screen is way more responsive - which I do envy. I feel like it’s iPad vs the Ford third party tablet in terms of function. The screen real estate taken up by the car sensor showing cars passing seem like a subtle unneeded flex of technology more than practicality- happy Ford doesn’t have that.

however, a media screen for YouTube and Netflix while charging would be clutch. The vertical screen and horizontal screen comes with personal preference but both seem to have their benefits. I will admit, the horizontal screen is nice to keep windshield completely free for view.

Ford ambient lighting is way more premium and classy looking over the mere white light in the Tesla.

The chime for green lights in the Tesla is a desirable feature I hope is coming for the Mach e.

the charging port behind the side reflector is clean, and charging overall seems way easier on the Tesla, although I’ve never had direct issues with the mustang.

the both drive similar- but the seats in the mustang are much more comfortable. And trying to open a Tesla door After the mache button open, wow, that feature alone is worth the Mache. I hate using handles now, but especially the annoying Tesla handles.

overall, I miss my Mustang. It has a much more robust quality feel over the Tesla. I’d choose that over the Tesla any day. I do wish the mustang came as a sedan, but happy to have the storage room for my new ebike and other things. Tesla 8.3/10 MachE 9.4/10

A friend of mine took delivery of the XC40 Recharge 2 months ago and loves the car. Not the best road tripping vehicle but for local drives, it's perfect. Interior is top notch. Exterior styling is really nice. The XC40 Recharge is for his wife and he's deciding on a Model S Performance (2019) versus a new Model 3 Performance for himself.

Tom did a nice video and ev insiders did also on the xc40 recharge. It's a nice BEV but the range for the price is a total swing and a miss. 208 miles on a full charge and they are like tesla recommend only charge to 80%. so what 165 miles of range at 80%. Then factor in if it's winter and another 25 miles of lost range and if you are driving 75 mph factor in another 10% loss. So could wind up with a real-world range of maybe 120 to 135 miles. No thanks

It’s all small pee pee energy.
Many of the Tesla owners I’ve seen are pretty big pee pees ???

TBH, I’ve also met a lot of very nice ones

then there was the model X pulling out of the Tesla Dealer last night who absolutely was determined to “race” for some stupid reason (all I can think of is that perhaps viagra was no longer doing it for him and he needed to impress the surgically altered Barbie in the passenger seat in some other way?)

For the record… “all” means “on both sides”.

Both can turn into huge circlejerks. Reminds me of 'Something About Mary' when the cop pulls up to the rest stop.

yeah I'm sure you'e all just "taking pisses"....'

There's going to be a buyer's market in old Teslas soon. The smart owners are selling their older models now.
I hope so. I typically am behind the tech curve because I am to frugal to buy a brand new car. Good value in a car that is ~3 years old. I'm driving a 2018 Chevy Volt PHEV now. Its a nice upgrade for myself. Last car was a 2000 Honda Insight Hybrid -- classic hybrid. ;)

I hate Tesla fanboys, I also hate Mach E fanboys. Fanboys are disgusting no matter where they are from.
Same. Yes, I own two Teslas, and I've tried to avoid being a Stan or a Fanboy, whether here, my podcast, or on Twitter.

As an EV enthusiast first, I find joy in helping anyone enjoy their EV, no matter the manufacturer.

Can't we just agree that everyone has the right to pick what's best for them and leave it at that?

It seems to be norm now when someone mentions a feature about the Mach E we almost immediately hear how Tesla did this better from the trolls. I understand that Tesla folks love their car. But why do they come here? I investigated and drove both before making an informed decision on the Mach E. I come here to talk about the Mach E, not about Tesla. If I want to learn about how Tesla does things I'll head on over to a Tesla forum. I'm not sure why Tesla folks want to troll here except to make themselves feel better in some convoluted way.

Is there a way to reduce the number of Tesla posts here or is that just the new norm?
Forget about them. Reality is kicking in for them because the GT Mach E just got released. They can troll all they want. The proof is in the pudding. 612 lb's- ft of torque in their face!
