Sorry if this was already posted, I could not find it.
I used to get the warning as soon as one of the tires was more than a couple PSI below the recommended 39. I had not received one in a while so I checked and noticed that 3 tires were at 36 and one 35. Is there a way that I might have disabled the warning by mistake ? I can't find a place where you can turn it off and on. Or do I remember wrong and the warning comes on when the pressure is considerably lower than that ? The tires and rims are still the original ones and I have only 6K miles on them. I can make it a habit to check regularly, but I'd rather have the warning work.

Thanks,

20% low is typically the threshold. That puts them at about 31-32 psi, which is consistent with what I've seen reported on the forum.

Thanks, I guess I remembered wrong or maybe the threshold is smaller at the beginning and then it adjusts.
I'll still just keep an eye on the gauge, just in case.

TPMS is not intended to take the place of a tire pressure gauge. As noted, the alert is not going to go off until you hit 31 pounds, which is 8 pounds or 20% below the desired cold pressure. Normal pressure loss, without any temperature change, is 1 to 3 PSI per month. Therefore, a great practice is to check your tire pressure monthly, and adjust to 39 PSI.

Yes, those are good things to keep in mind.
Thanks,

TPMS often shows 29 or 30 psi on my front tires (cold). But it has never warned of low pressure.

Perhaps the threshold on my car is 30%...

I definitely got a warning at 19 PSI this morning. And it wasn’t because it was 9° F in the garage. Though that did make plugging this more difficult.

Ouch....at least you were in the garage at that temperature.

Do you run your tires at that pressure?

No. I fill my front tires to 33psi cold, to soften the ride. Weather doesn't vary much around here, but they can drop a pound or two on a cool evening. The rest is TPMS inaccuracy.
