Not really because you're going to 20 inch wheels and 8 and 1/2 inch wide so you're off set has to compensate for the wider Wheels since you're going to go from 7 and 1/2 to 8 and 1/2 you're offset will go from 53 to 40 at least that's how I understand at least that's how I understand the offset

I have a question.

I am somewhat a noobie on wheels/tires but been reading all of the forums to educate myself. The OP has been EXTREMLY helpful so thank you! I have a question about new wheels that have an offset of 35 and if that is not advised with the MME Premium AWD. I am also considering a wheel with an offset of 40. Both wheels are 20 X8.5 5-108.00 but have different offsets. I am having trouble understanding the impact with going with a 35 or 40 versus what is recommended for the MME Premium AWD.

For the Tires, I was going to go with 235/45/20 (All Season Peformance).

Here are the two wheels I am have narrowed down too:

MAZZI ROLLA 373 BLACK MACHINEDPart Number : 373-2814TMSize : 20x8.5Bolt : 5x4.25Alt Bolt : 5x4.5Offset : +35Hub Size : 72.60Load : 2250Backspace : 6.13
Mazzi Rolla 373 R20

Thank you for your help.

Take a look at this calculation - the left side is the stock 19" x 7" wheel, with 47mm offset. On the right side I've plugged in your new wheel, with the 40mm offset. You can adjust the sizes on the right side, and then scroll down to the "summary" section to see a description of what has changed.

https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/?wh...-20X8.5ET40&fcl=50mm&scl=50mm&wcl=30mm&sr=0mm

Note that the clearances are totally unknown - we have no idea how much fender or suspension clearance you'll get, though I'd be surprised if it is less than 20mm in any direction.

The 40mm offset is a better fit, but note that it will stick out nearly an inch further from the car than the stock wheels. A higher offset will move the rim further in, but at some point you are going to start worrying about the suspension clearance. I'd probably feel OK with a 45 or a 50mm offset, but any more and you are really risking inside clearance problems.

If you can, I'd recommend looking back at 7-8" rims, which will give you a much more confident fit, without sticking out too far. An 8" rim will happily take a 235 width tire. In that case, a 45-50mm offset in an 8" rim would be very likely to fit comfortably, with only about 1/2" additional stick-out from the car.

Unfortunately as you get into 8.5" and 9" rims there are probably options that will work, but without a car to test the fit on, you won't really be sure. Be careful about making a big purchase you don't know will work.

@phidauex based on what you've seen so far, do you think the 19" wheels will fit on the GT? A set of 19" with aero covers would be nice for winter on the GT.

It is a possibility, but with the GT's 19" front rotors it is fairly unlikely. It would be interesting to do a test fit but I wouldn't buy anything until a fit was confirmed.

Probably, the Premium ER AWD has a gross rear axle weight of 3225 lbs., so two of these would exceed that with some margin to spare. The GT may have a heavier front axle, but the rear is probably about the same (or slightly less without the glass roof). What are the other specs on that Shift wheel?

I don't have any specs specific to the Mach E. I was using the bolt pattern and bore for the 2.3L Mustang since the site I found them on doesn't list the Mach E yet for aftermarket rims. They're here. https://www.carid.com/shift-wheels/spring-black-machined-bronze-face-1901890252.html

I don't think these wheels will work. Quick internet search and not sure these are offered in a 5 x 108 bolt pattern and the offset is at 35. Recommended offset is around 45-55MM. It would be interesting to see if a 40MM offset would work but doubt a 35MM would be recommended.

I believe it needs to support 1600 LBS so I think you are good on load. Just verify bolt pattern (5x108), width (7" but we think 8" or maybe even 8.5"MAY work) and offset of 45-55 (although a 40 may work).

Add a few new tire types - still need more weight stickers!

Thank you for the wheel specs. Now I can start looking for winter alloy rims for the Continental WinterContact tires that I have already purchased for the FE with 19" tires.
I ordered the GTA model and wanted the tire swap to all seasons instead of the summer but dealer had no clue on how to do it. Who is selling 19 inch wheels on the internet?
