Definitely digging the contrast. A friend convinced me of the same to avoid that all-black void and lack of contrast that can happen....

So I’ve been putting off my post until the car is “done” and where I want it to be. Not sure that is going to happen soon . So here is my setup as is…

Wheels: Vertini RFS1.2 with Gloss Black Brush Tint Rotary Forged. 21x9 40 offset

Tires: Continental Extreme Contact DWS06 Plus, 265/40ZR21 XL 105W

Calipers: Painted using a G2 kit with customer color (same as the car). And yes, I am aware I messed up the Brembo decals direction, I might fix it at a later
date...

Question to those putting on larger diameter wheels, doesn't this affect the calculation of driven miles? Is there a setting in the car's config for tire size?

The math for that only changes IF the total diameter of the tire changes.
So going from my 225/60r18 to 245/45r20 are almost identical in diameter resulting in no mileage readout change (other than lowering my range due to wider tires and non aero wheels).

Thanks JB, those were temporary wheels only on the right side that Terrance was showing off on my car. On the left side were my wheels. People thought I was crazy running around with two different sets of wheels but at least the tires were the same size.

I know many here like all black wheels and so do I but I'm going to change it up on my car in a couple of weeks. Same wheels but the face will be machined aluminum. Too many times when photographing this car, the wheels look like a black hole with the Iconic Silver body color and you don't really see the design. On my darker Premium Infinite Blue, they looked better (less contrast). I know I am going to get a lot of flack over it but hey, can always have them powder coated back to gloss black if I end up not liking it.

Below is a recent photo from Yosemite where the car is in the shade. Can't tell the design of the wheels. Below that a couple of photos with my new tires (Michelin Pilot Sport 4 NO Acoustic 275/40/20 F, 315/35/20 R) and they are in direct sunlight. In all the photos, I brought up the blacks and shadows a bit but don't like to overdue it as it looks weird.

But, your comments about the black wheels being hard to see (I say invisible) is exactly why I have always been confused by the black wheel disease that has somehow become the “cool” aesthetic. Personally, can’t stand them and other than on a Jeep or similar, never seen black wheels that look better than silver/grey/polished face. Posting here as a thanks since I’ve gotten all the knowledge I needed from this thread and @markboris. Hopefully it will be of help to someone in the future looking for a wheel upgrade with no range loss.

I’ve done a same round trip comparison a weeks after the change and it showed zero range loss (same for long term comparison), in fact a very slight increase, but that could be down to other factors. Insanely happy with that result.

rims: Volvo XC90 9x20 +38 (used)
Tyres: Pirelli Scorpion Elect
255/45/20

Rims:
Needed something aerodynamic and was fortunate enough that Volvo wheels fit well on the Mach-e. I’ve noticed a lot of people writing they prefer dark rims / thinner spokes, personally I like chunkier rims on the Mach-e. I normally prefer dark rims but I felt the black fenders “eat up” the dark wheels, so was very happy with outcome. Personal preference of course.

tyres:
in Europe we have ratings on the tires for rolling resistance, these are Pirelli’s Elect that are designed for EVs and they have the highest rolling resistance rating, which I’m sure helped with the range, perhaps not as much as the aero rims though.

There’s a lot more grip when driving, even in everyday situations.

The car feels more sturdy. Before it would “waggle” after taking a corner too hard or driving over speed bumps etc, now it’s smoother.

its quieter, not by a massive amount but I do appreciate it. This I’m sure is from the tires.

Here is a closer look when I was doing fitment testing. Just enough clearance for the brakes and yes the wheels are balanced now, and the wheel weights still clear the caliper.

These wheels look very aerodynamic. In the wheel studies I have seen, the fan design like these wheels have, is very effective for reducing rotational air resistance.
