% changed increased but they did not outsell (volume) and the numbers aren't great

Yep, he misinterpreted the numbers. "Memo" means that's a subset of the overall model. They sold 64,568 total F-Series (all types), and only 2,090 of those were Lightnings.

Only 3% of all F-Series were BEV. The other 97% were ICE or hybrid.

I definitely have been seeing a lot more MMEs around town. It used to be rare, but now, every time I go out, I see at least five. There were three of us in one row at Costco. Still waiting to see a green 24.

Yeah the days of friendly Mach-E waves are long gone :(
It's funny you say that. When I am sitting at the Charger(s), it reminds me of having a boat, waiting in line at a dock for gas; waving and how are you doing to everyone.

Worked for more sales. But increased Ford's EV losses.
No it didn't. Those "EV losses" that you speak of were already paid (sunk costs). By selling the cars, they made back some money to help offset those losses. If they didn't sell them, they would be even worse off.

If you've already paid a bunch of money to build some cars, you're better off selling them at a lower price than you initially thought/hoped you could, compared to not selling them at all.

Well, sure, if you're only talking about the vehicles they already manufactured and assume they won't make any more to keep the line going.

But that's not the assumption I make. I assume they'll keep making more as an ongoing operation, not that they're just dumping the product line in a fire sale. I'm talking about deep discounts in the sales price of the product line, which reduces their revenues and widens their losses on the whole line relative to what they projected as the basis for it's viability.

If significantly lower (discounted) sales prices are necessary to move them, the whole product line is in trouble.

Even at their original prices from a year or two ago, they weren't making money. It's going to be some time before their EV department is profitable. Just ask Tesla.

And Rivian, and the others, yes. Gotta make ongoing progress to recover that sunk investment to cross the profitability line. Having to slash revenues via deep discounts does just the opposite. It bleeds even more money. Thus why Ford slowed down their BEV plans and shifted more focus to hybrids that they can actually make some profit on this decade. (And of course ICE which is their cash cow.)

I was the only Mach E driving around for a while. Recently, the last couple weeks, I now see 2-3 a day. Something has changed. We love ours, great in town driver and I think the build quality is great. We have a 2023.5 GTPE.

In my community in North Georgia of about 3,000 people I have seen two others. And when I park in Fitness Center etc, it always gets attention and people ask about it. I live in a mountain area with windy roads and there are quite a number of Teslas

Town of 35,000
But the heartland of pickup trucks.
If you are at a 4-way traffic stop with 10 vehicles stopped in all directions, it would not be an exaggeration that 30 of the 40 vehicles are pickup trucks.

Anyways, I know they have sold a considerable number of Mach-Es to someone, because the drive-by inventory suggests it at the rural dealership.
But I don't ever see them.

I want Ford to succeed for at least selfish reasons. But I rather enjoy all 3 of my toys in town because they are all pretty exclusive.
My F150?
It's a Camry in these parts. :)
Vehicles are lifestyle items like clothing, jewelry, sneakers. Nike sells a lot of Jordan’s to people who don’t play basketball. Waiting for the first Ford EV non pickup with more ride hight. The Mach e ride height is just a little too low for my comfort.
