Seems to me if they can't deliver any GT cars till Sept, Oct or later, they ought to be delivered as MY2022 cars, not 2021. Sept is when we usually get details on the next model year and deliveries happen Oct- Nov. Otherwise it's coming with an added feature: 1 year's depreciation built in! It'll be worth less the minute you get it!

They should but tbh, who cares. 1 more year of depreciation is likely to be small potatoes compared to basically every other depreciation factor you're likely to experience (mileage, new vs used, the fact that there's a lot more alternatives coming out in the near future, advances in battery technology, etc).

Personally I've resigned myself to the possibility that these 60k dollar cars could take a pretty big depreciation hit.

For any orders up through the end of the month and for part of the first week of September, Ford has already stated that these will be 2021 models. For orders already placed that have VINs assigned, those are 2021 cars, since the VIN assigned is for a 2021 car.

What about orders that don't have a VIN until after the first week of September though? I think that's the discrepancy here. I ordered end of June but if my car doesn't even have a VIN until mid September or later shouldn't it be a 2022 regardless of when the order was sent in?

I kind of like the fact that its going to be a 2021 vs 22 as i currently also have a 2021 GT 5.0 early production so two completely different models ending with 1.

Ford has already stated that orders placed up through September 4 would be 2021s and ordering for 2022s would commence on September 26.

Lame. Oh well, I have a feeling selling a 2021 GT down the road won't be affected either way by having a 2021 which is why I'm not cancelling my order for a 2022.

Depreciation probably offset by increase in price for MY 22

Got a link or something where they stated this?
