I bought a new 2023 Mach-e in March and in May I got my first stop safely now/High voltage battery warning/powertrain malfunction. Was in my driveway so it was a pain but not a safety issue. Got it towed to dealership where it stayed for 10 days due to service backlog. Did not get temporary rental from the dealership due to a fight between the dealership and corporate so I had to borrow a car from a friend. Service did a software upgrade and 12V battery replacement. Decided to give the car another chance.
10 days ago I got the STOP SAFELY NOW message and the accelerator stopped responding. Was in 1-pedal mode so the car came to a stop involuntarily while I was going 35 on a road with no shoulder. No error codes, no fordpass messages, just the dash warning "stop safely now." Tried to restart several times and got the same warning, plus I could not shift out of park. Got it towed to dealership again, they said there's nothing to fix, no error codes, can't replicate the error. My original salesperson told me to initiate a manufacturers' buyback. I called the corporate number and the customer service rep told me, "as a matter of transparency, it is NEVER approved." Seems like my options now are Lemon Law complaint through my state AG's office, negotiate a different car through the dealership, or...? Any advice is appreciated, thanks!
