I bought a new 2023 Mach-e in March and in May I got my first stop safely now/High voltage battery warning/powertrain malfunction. Was in my driveway so it was a pain but not a safety issue. Got it towed to dealership where it stayed for 10 days due to service backlog. Did not get temporary rental from the dealership due to a fight between the dealership and corporate so I had to borrow a car from a friend. Service did a software upgrade and 12V battery replacement. Decided to give the car another chance.

10 days ago I got the STOP SAFELY NOW message and the accelerator stopped responding. Was in 1-pedal mode so the car came to a stop involuntarily while I was going 35 on a road with no shoulder. No error codes, no fordpass messages, just the dash warning "stop safely now." Tried to restart several times and got the same warning, plus I could not shift out of park. Got it towed to dealership again, they said there's nothing to fix, no error codes, can't replicate the error. My original salesperson told me to initiate a manufacturers' buyback. I called the corporate number and the customer service rep told me, "as a matter of transparency, it is NEVER approved." Seems like my options now are Lemon Law complaint through my state AG's office, negotiate a different car through the dealership, or...? Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

I've read where many people have gotten the manufacturer to buy it back, so that statement is simply false.

Have you tried another dealership service department? It sounds like your dealership is not really trying to help you. I see you're in Maine. I bought mine from Casco Bay, down in Yarmouth, and thought they seemed more EV supportive. Also, try calling the BEV Team at Ford, (800) 392-3673. Others here should be able to offer more technical support as well.

Wow, that is certainly not a good way to start off. I assume right now everything is working fine? Also, I assume you do not have any after market devices or 3rd party apps that might be draining the 12V battery?

If you get another SSN or SVS message, you might want to try another dealer, if there is one close to you. I would also start a case with the BEV team if it happens again and see if they can assist in guiding the dealer to diagnose the car.

At this point I honestly feel like the vehicle is unsafe for me and anyone who happens to be near my vehicle when it involuntarily stops while in motion. If there aren't error codes the service depts have nothing to go on. Having a new vehicle (5 months old, 2000 miles, paid close to sticker price due to lack of competition) that is unreliable and unsafe seems patently insane.

In order for lemon law to apply, there are conditions that need to be met first. Based on your post. You aren't there yet. Sounds like the dealer you have is trash, and even if they had a fight with corporate, they should have taken care of you.

I'd suggest trying a different competent dealer to work on your situation.

That is honestly a relief to know! I was planning on yelling at my original saleperson if/when it's denied.

No aftermarket anything. I have a case with the corporate folks right now; I dealt with the BEV team during the May/June incident and they just stop responding despite giving me a cell phone and email contact. I have no faith in Ford corporate anymore.

Thanks! I'm trying not to name dealership names (until it's warranted) but the June incident was the closest dealership and the current incident is the original purchase dealership, two different service depts, neither able to fix it.

Gee this is not comforting.

I thought these HVBJB issues have been resolved for '23 MME ?

2 months in - 2000 miles - still going well with no errors / codes / messages.

Just the occasional Carplay drop...

That's what this forum and reddit forum seem to think to but my car says otherwise. (It's definitely not a 2022.) Good luck.

I am surprised that there are no codes for the second event.

I wonder if there were. But I now have a couple OBD2s jn my house, so we would just go look for codes ourselves if we had this happen to us. Might be worth getting one, just in case this happens again.
