Where'd that Tesla guy go that was talking about how Tesla would be selling a million cars per year and no one would catch up? Meanwhile Ford sold 1.1 million cars in 6 months. Good luck Tesla when all of these ICE manufacturers are primarily making EVs.

Kinda crazy to compare total vehicle sales for a very established car company, however Ford does seriously need to pick up the pace on the Mach-E.

Tesla produced and sold somewhere around 40-50,000 Model Ys alone in July. With 2 new large factories coming online and the fact that they aren't even selling the Y in Europe, Australia, etc.. yet that will probably increase to 100K-200K in a month in the next quarter or 2.

Mach-E sold 2,854 in July

What a terrible month for Ford I’m pretty annoyed. They just said in their earnings call that the chip shortage had improved and that they were going to produce substantially more vehicles in the second half of the year. Then they release production figures today and they are down from last month which itself was down 50% from the prior year.

Shades of the Jim Hackett era

Yeah where do all these Mach e keep going. Us consistently sells less than 3000 per month and Europe has only had like 5k total for the entire year. They keep producing 6-7k Mach e per month, are they just throwing the rest in the trash seriously where are they going

Not sure I understand your point unless you are judging the remaining 5 months of the year based off the July numbers. It takes time to get parts into the supply chain.

Tesla produced over 380,000 BEVs so far YTD. Where is Ford at when it comes to BEV production?

I'm a believer in Ford, I'm getting a Mach-E over a Tesla, yada yada, but the pissing contest with Tesla is just stupid. All this talk about ICE manufacturers are going to eat Tesla's lunch - then let the actions and numbers speak for themselves.

This is a valid point. Talk is cheap.

Who cares, the MME is production constrained, intentionally and by the chip shortage. Lets see what it looks like 2 years from now.

Have you looked at Tesla's numbers beyond this year? It took them until MARCH OF 2020 to sell their millionth car in company history. In the first 5 months of production Tesla sold 1600 Model 3's. In the second year of production Tesla sold 140k model 3's. Considering the Mach E started deliveries in January and they only procured 50,000 batteries for the 2021 model year, they seem to be on-plan. Presumably now that they know they have a hit we'll see production ramping up to the mid 150k range for the 2022's.

Seems like Ford is headed on the same trajectory as the vaunted Model 3, does it not?

These are weird times. Everything is selling out. Tough decision for Ford, do they sell 100,000 F-150 with 30% profit margin or MME with less than half that profit margin. Right now TSLA can keep raising prices. What happens when a price war comes in the middle of the next recession. Time will reveal all..

Ok great, so let’s see Ford deliver those types of numbers then, is all I’m saying.
