Sales only 'jumped' because of modest U.S. deliveries instead of prioritized European shipments.

Production was significantly down M-o-M, which points to parts shortages. There certainly isn't a lack of demand.

Sales jumped for two reasons - deliveries of GT/GTPEs finally happened and cars queue up waiting for chips got delivered.

Mustang is really a niche car for Ford, always has been. If you look at the yearly numbers they tend to be around or less than 100,000 vehicles per year. So there are never going to be as many mustangs as Tesla out there. Which is actually ok with me, as long as Ford keeps on top of the software and we all benefit.

Those were the years (1966!) Not sure how they became so niche, competition from Toyota, Nissan (Datsun) and Honda

It is sad to see governments trying so hard to take away people's freedom of what car they can drive. Constant brain washing and arm twisting by the so-called environ mentalists and govts is taking its toll on ICE Mustang sales. :) 30,000 of them flew into the COP26 summit, many in their private jets, to "save the planet".

In California, it of course goes much deeper. Here even what smoke alarm I can put is dictated by the govt. Then we point fingers at other countries for 'lack of freedom'.

I had a 1966, dark green, black interior. 6cyl. 3 speed. Loved that car. My buddy had a 66 convert, high performance 289, stick shift. Those round exhaust pipes with the little shudder on them. Coming through that rear bottom panel. Factory ac, and a factory luggage rack on the rear trunk. Boy, those were the days my friends. Of course we had them used, about 3/4 years old when we got them in 69 and 70.

Isn't that the market talking? Top selling porsches are all SUVs now and has been for a long while. The Lambo SUV sells more than regular Lambos. Wondering when they'll do an EV.

Taycan just outsold the 911:

Sports cars are too niche and gas is at $5+ in CA. Some BofA person said oil is heading to $120/barrel. Doesn't take much for people to not buy gas anymore.

You can not be an environ mentalists but be a lover of $$ and most EVs outperform their gas counterparts (not sure on a long track though).

I bought an MME because it made $ and sense. Cars are getting $$$ and technology will be the big equalizer as well, Take electric motors. What you gonna do? Brag about your windings and voltage? All cars will be smooth, quiet, quick. Won’t be much different with trucks. Engineers will rule the power train and designers will be torn between hurky and minimalist. We used to laugh about cars looking like suppositories 20 years ago. Now what? Stylish pumpkin seeds?
