PPF is a paint protective coating. Check out the you-tube video by KAVACA. Very informative. I think when I get my MME I will opt for the dual coating. BTW, he didn't mention price...

I'm a car dummy. What's PPF?
Paint Protective Film.

It’s a thin film (measured in mils … a thousandths of an inch.

It can protect the car from any rocks, some types of scratching and the like. There are glossy and matte versions. Some can have a ceramic coating put over them, some are self healing (minor scratches to the PPF will heal themselves by leaving them in the sun).

There are several good threads on the subject in the forums.

I'm debating between ceramic coating AND Xpel or just the ceramic. I did both on my last car but wasn't sure if the PPF was necessary on the Mach E. Now it seems like many of you are seeing rock chips?? Guess I'll get a quote...

Ceramic really does nothing for rock chips.

My daughter is back from college and has been driving our Mach E. It’s front end is a very effective bug swatter. Thank goodness for PPF and ceramic coating. The car will get a good wash today.

I have found no bucket of washer fluid at a charging station to date. Speed shine at a charging stop gives the windshield and front end a cleaner look. I find it is best as soon as possible before they soaks in/dry. Definitely a bug. ?

Right I understand that, I was just hoping this car wasn't TOO susceptible to rock chips like my last car was, but it seems like many of you are already seeing bad ones. I was just hoping to save money and skip the PPF this time around.

I use 3D Bug Remover, diluted 4:1. Let it soak for 1 minute and it does a great job. I also use a graphene coating, so that helps, too.

We drove through Idaho yesterday, I think we got them all so there should be a clear path. Added PPF before the trip, stopped at a manual car wash before hitting the hotel to clean everything off.

I wonder if it was you on I-82 in Yakima last week going towards Ellensburg that I spotted.
