I really want to switch to an electric ZTR as well. But I just bought a brand new cub cadet ZTR like 3 years ago.

However, taking my MME to the gas station to get gas for my mower really made me want to just trade it in and be done with it.

This is my first zero turn. I've been running a JD conventional lawn tractor I bought in 2004. Still runs fine, but it's time to move on.
I'm almost totally away from gasoline for lawn & garden. Electric hedge trimmer, push mower and now this.
My blower and string trimmer are still ICE, but I use TruFuel in them. I still have a gasoline powered chainsaw (it won't run on TruFuel, I tried) and pressure washer. The chainsaw is rarely used at home anyway - mostly a farm tool.

I switched a couple of years ago and I'm scratching my head on why I waited so long. With the newer electric mowers, bigger batteries, it is such a sure thing to do. No more noise/fumes/gas can/oil/iffy filters/winter crud etc to worry about. I think HOA ICE lawn mower bans are coming.

Some places maybe, But my HOA this year banned solar panels. So I don't see them pushing electric anything here. ?

I'm an officer in our HOA. We're pretty laid back. Just pay your fees, keep the grass cut, and take out the trash (no burning) and you'll be fine!

I'm on my 2nd Ryobi 20" battery mower. My first used a huge lead acid battery--it weighed more than the gas lawn mower I replaced it with.

The latest one uses a Li-Ion battery pack with a spot for a spare so I don't have to walk back to the garage if I need to swap them.

Also have a Ryobi snow thrower using the same packs.

I kind of discussed all my changes in this thread:

When I do get a new mower, this is what I plan on getting. Would be cool if it could use the same EVSE as the MME though. haha

EVSE would imply max L2. Not DC fast charge. Or about 30 minutes until the dreaded tapper kicks in. So last kwh would be 2 hours. L2 would require battery management though, meaning cooling of some kind. I think 110 is low enough no cooling needed.

My push mower and hedge trimmer are both GreenWorx and share a common battery platform (40V Li-ion). I plan to build on that as the need arises. Looking at a chainsaw now.

Sorry I missed your previous thread. It was before I joined this forum!

Yes - level 2, 40A EVSE would charge a 3kWh battery in about 1 minute, 10 seconds. It can't happen, obviously as the platform is totally different as you indicate.

Hmm. There is something lost in translation here. 3kwh battery, 40 amp EVSE max 7.2 kw would imply closer to 30 minutes for full charge. What am I missing here.

3 kwh in 1 minute 10 seconds would imply ~ 180 kw charging speed which only the Taycan can mange at present w/ 800v battery!
