Does it actually do anything for acceleration? Add power? Make the pedal kick in more with less push?
Bingo! Our Leaf has Standard and Eco modes. Eco mode (and probably Whisper) changes the pedal mapping so that you have to push a lot harder to get the same acceleration. If you map this to OPD, Unbridled probably accelerates with less pressure and decelerates (regenerates) more with less pressure release than Whisper.

So technically that wouldn't change the mileage (thus range) directly, it just makes it easier for the driver to drive more aggressively (faster acceleration and deceleration with less pedal-push). And if the driver does drive more aggressively, that's what actually lowers mileage (thus range).

Exactly! It let you drive more efficiently.
Or more technically, it makes it easier for you drive more efficiently (or less when set the other way).

The car will still let you drive equally as efficiently either way. You could still accelerate at the same rate in UNBRIDLED mode, you just have to press the pedal more lightly. And you could still decelerate at the same rate as 1PD just by pressing the brake pedal (since it uses the same regen that 1PD does).

But since most people are likely to press the accelerator pedal just as hard in any mode, they're likely to accelerate faster when in ENBRIDLED mode, thus lose efficiency. So while technically it's the driver rather than the car that's being less efficient (in UNBRIDLED), it's sort of a distinction without a difference.

Exactly. That's why Whisper is theoretically no more efficient than Unbridled but you are much more likely to drive more efficiently in Whisper than Unbridled.

The corollary to that is Unbridled is theoretically not more more fun than Whisper but you are much more likely to have fun in Unbridled than Whisper. :D

From the few consumption numbers coming in off media test drives (3 vids and/or articles and no one given enough time with the vehicle) it appears the 4x may be a 250 mi vehicle just like the numbers state. Still possible a Tesla fudge factor to state 270 mi on the windows sticker; but time will tell. Numbers do not lie; can window stickers?

Wonder if new numbers will be released? I have based my decision on 250 mi with 22% more useable battery and 16% less range than a competitor (on numbers and not a in your face window sticker). Makes this vehicle tight, possibly unusable, for travel at -20C with our current charger spacing. -15 C in the sun today maybe alright? Not a upfront or spectacular showing to date and should be mentioned just like the numerous good points.

Dropping the DCFC to almost 0 at 80% does not help. They look 10% more of the usable battery as buffer, than they required, and now I understand they may force you to only charge to to 80%; that is close to 30% now of battery dead weight which is not being used that should be. If the batteries are that sh!t that they need to protect their warranty by locking off close to 30% plus the normal buffer than maybe it should not be offered at all? What we have is a 98.8 KWh battery with 70 KWh useable (0.8 x 88) and will mention you do not want to reach the charger at 0%. Baffling and this is the only thing that I will complain about when it comes to Fords lack of communication. It will be here when it gets here. More consumption or new epa numbers before it does would not hurt.

This makes me wonder if driving the GT in a similar conservative way would result in range more similar to the Premium AWD Ext., or is that just not going to be possible?

Media reviews are driving the cars hard. Very hard. Basing any decisions on their usage is misguided. There will be real world range testing and results in the future. I'd wait until then before deciding this, or any other vehicle, meets your needs.

Probably will get better range than with aggressive driving, but keep in mind the GT has two large motors rather one large and one small. The increase in range may not be the same ratio as the range increase on an AWD ER driven in the same manner.

You would have to put the narrower tires on it. That would make the most difference, but at this time the range is estimated, what the GT will do isn't accurately known.

Are the UK cars getting a bigger "Usable" battery than the US?

" Built on a new platform, the Mustang Mach-E is available with either a 76 or 98.7 kWh battery, can be had in single or dual motor guise, and with rear-drive or all-wheel drive. "

At some point earlier this year, Ford started reporting the usable capacity instead of the total capacity. The numbers from that video are the total capacities.

The difference between usable and total is the energy capacity reserved for battery management.

They noted the trip, temp and their speed. What do you mean by hard? What is your answer to 70 KWh usable on a 100 KWh battery? Flooded by disinformation?

Based on the range figures over their they are get 88 KWh usable also. Not sure if they will only be able to charge to 80% also?

You may believe what you want, but it appears your mind is made up. If that's the case, nothing anyone says or shows you will dissuade you. Good luck.
