Minimizing gap between cargo floor and folded rear seats

I travel with my dogs often. Their paws seem to fall into that gap. Fortunately no laws have been injured so far. I tried a couple canvas cargo covers without much success. Has anyone found a solution? Or have any recommendations ? Thank you!
