Missing panel above fuse panel

I can’t believe this is normal - see photo. Please tell me I’m missing a panel ? There are tabs in the front and back that are aching to have a panel attached to them. I’m a week into ownership. Of course I can bring it in but thought I’d check here first.

Yes mine has a panel above. That's one of those things that might have been removed for cost savings. You'll have to ask other people in your build week group if they have it or not.

If the dealer does not provide one, and it was a cost cutting delete, you may be able too look for that part for a 2021 model.
Just an idea.

Some trim levels (Select comes to mind) do not have that panel. ??

I believe it was figured out in another thread that trims without ambient lighting don‘t have that panel.

Interesting… well @Mach-Lee we have the same trim and model year so it would have to be a recent cost cutting measure…

And as for cost cutting - the panel is worth a buck and in terms of production complexity it adds a couple more bucks I would guess?

The connection to ambient lighting is dead. I just found my ambient lighting control and discovered how well orange complements my grabber blue. (You can see one of my ambient lights in the photo, just forward of the vents on the left.)

My week of 7/25 build CA Rt1 was missing this panel. When I mentioned it to the service manager, he started out saying it might be missing from certain trim levels, but agreed to look up the part number to see if it was applicable to my VIN. He ended up ordering one for me free of charge. Not sure if this was a special courtesy or not.

Factory probably decided to ship them without the panel due to parts shortages. They would rather have a dealer fix it then hold up the shipment. Probably was worth the trade off to not have to wait several extra weeks!

It could well be a parts shortage. But of the possible shortages - chips, park assist (with chips), complicated assemblies, etc - it is amusing that a chunk of molded plastic would strain the system to breaking ?

My 2022 was also missing that panel… on the bright side it makes it easier to get to the fuse box ?

Any chance you know the part number? I have been hunting this part for my select for few weeks now.
