maybe Ioniq 5 owners here can chime in but i am a little shocked at the I5's efficiency. i lurk in the I5 Reddit forum and also the I5 channel in the Ioniq forum and it looks like most folks are reporting efficiencies of around 3-3.1 m/kwh.

i admit i haven't read every post on this but those numbers surprised me. i expected better efficiency than the Mach E

my AWD ER Mach E gives 3.5m/kwh in current weather, which is hot.

I don't think the efficiency between the Mach-E and Ioniq 5 differs much. I was getting 3.0 to 3.3 mi/kWh in Florida with my Premium RWD SR driving 20% city / 80 % highway. I know a Florida Ioniq 5 Limited AWD owner who was getting 2.8-3.0 mi/kWh but he was driving 100+ highway miles round trip a day (so basically 5% city 95% highway). Edmunds and InsideEV more or less confirm these numbers.

The gold standard is the Model 3 (which I had one and trade for a Telluride) which easily achieves 4.2 mi/kWh on the highways at 70-75mph. The bulbous sedan is aerodynamic.

I could say that in my experience, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ltd is far better than the Ford Mustang Mach e in all categories, including comfort of the ride. That would be misleading, however, because I own and ride in the Ioniq 5, but do not yet own an MME. (So far, I've been waiting 27 weeks for my MME to get a build date.) I've never even sat in an MME.

interesting. any idea why the I5 doesn't have better efficiency? i thought it came with the heat pump.

Heat pump is only for cold temps and is only available in the AWD trims.

EV6 is the most efficient of the Korean twins. More streamlined shaped with a lower Cd. Almost all test show it is more efficient than the Ioniq 5.

It’s weird because the Hyundai Kona EV is insanely efficient (4.0 mi/kWh is normal). Niro EV and Bolt are too. All much smaller than the fat hatchbacks (Ioniq 5, EV6, Mach- E)

Does well in cold weather. It's just not aerodynamic for going 80mph

Drove from Orange County to Big Sur, Hearst Castle and Monterey for the long weekend in the i5. Only had to charge once midway in each 360 mile trip. i5 did most of the driving. Lane centering and adaptive CC most of the way made it easy. Charging speed at EA varied widely getting 125kw at a 350kw charger and 232kw at another 350kw charger, 10-80% in 18 mins as advertised. The i5 is a charging beast.

I'm sorry to say, but the MME by far is the best looking EV car/SUV/crossover so far out there. The I5 reminds me a robot on wheels, test drove the base model and thought it was just ok, didn't get me that wow factor like the MME did. I had a Premium ER RWD since February (2022) that I bought from a cancelled ordered. Ordered a GTPE back in Dec. 4th 2021, took delivery last Thursday and boi.....I'm telling you what. She's a beaut and a beast!! I know we are not comparing apples to apples here, but the MME GTPE is a absolutely amazing car and thought the Premium model was as well.
The GTPE trim only comes with MagneRide suspension and it's like night and day compared to other MME trims. The Premium trim was very bouncy and harsh bumps, not the GTPE. Premium models or below have way too skinny of tires and unfortunately gives the car a feel of swaying back and forth especially when it's windy. The GTPE has much better handling and not so much swaying feel. Not so sure on the I5 when it comes to that.
So yes, I'm very spoiled with the GTPE and LOVE LOVE LOVE the beast named (Ginuwine) . Here are some pics of Ginuwine and if your still waiting for your MME....it's totally worth it.

I agree. But looks are subjective, as my co-workers think the MME is hideous. They hate the skinny tires and make fun of it saying it is like a skinny leg bodybuilder you see at the gym. They also do not like the bubble/mustache front end. Point is, everyone has an opinion and don't agree ;)

it doesn't yet. cold weather charging is slower. alex on autos recommend using one pedal WOT a few times

The Genesis GV60 has preconditioning and the 2023 Ioniq 5 supposedly has it.

Who knows about the price increases for the 2023 model year though. UK EV6s have gone up 4000 GBP I think. US could see a $3K bump (max) but more likely a small increase.

Wow … that’s a little disappointing. My admiration for the I5 has waned a bit with this finding and also with the fact that it’s efficiency is not better than the Mach E’s and range wise is poorer.

i5 generally has more range. rwd it's 305. awd it's 260-290. the only mme trim it doesn't beat is caR1.
