I would not expect a staid, old company like Ford to have fanboys. Why are you one? What makes Ford better than GM or any other carmaker?
Hahaha - yeah, I have no good justification to prefer Ford - thanks for calling me out ;)

Truthfully, I have a few friends that work there so it started wanting to support them and then Ive just always found a Ford car I really like at the time I needed one (Edge, Explorer ST, now maybe the Mach E). But, obviously being a “fanboy” is an irrational preference for a brand.

Heh, I think in most cases “fanboi” or “fangurl” accuately portray brand preference. Back in the day when one make may have been more reliable than another or had a technological advantage that made them better on track, that may not have been the case, but these days all of the cars are reliable. WRT performing on the track, I am in the camp that hopes Ford will get its poop in a group. If it’s not possible, I will be disappointed, but as you can see from my avatar I am a fanboi of a different make so I don’t have skin in the game.

Me neither. I have nothing against Ford, and wish them well. I'm no fanboy when it comes to cars - at most, I have been a fan of Toyota, just based on my limited experience and knowledge of their quality and efficiency. The Tesla fans, now those are fanboys (many of them).

"It's working as designed."

That's the worry that a lot of GT customers are carrying around.

Ford has been deliberately pitting the Mustang Mach-E against the Tesla Model Y. It would be very disappointing to learn that the best that Ford can do with the Mach-E can barely compete against the Model Y Long Range let alone a Model Y Performance.

Model Y Long Range (Motortrend):
1/4 Mile: 12.4s @ 114.8
0-60: 4.1 seconds
The test vehicle they used was a ringer. That's the only LR Y that has gotten those numbers. That's almost as quick as a LR Y with the acceleration boost. A stock LR Y should be around 12.8 @ 107 mph.

Darren Palmer called the GTPE a “once in a decade” vehicle.
Do you have a link to that? Would love to read more about what's been stated before.

The one relevant interview I could find is https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...-future-of-the-v8-mustang-full-interview.420/. During that interview, Mr. Plamer was being vague about the performance capabilities, only mentioning 0-60 would be "under or around 4 seconds". Other than that, Mr. Palmer spent more time talking about the puddle light, the ground speed indicator on the instrument panel, the grabber blue color, and the sequential blinkers.

It was part of the inside ev pod cast https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...-threshold-increases-coming-this-winter.9508/

A lot of talk about 0-60 but not much else, the way Ford go on about 0-60 you would think the numbers are far more impressive than the really are for the GTPE. It would seem Ford have completely forgotten that they once held the 0-60 production world record for 12 years with a two way average of 3.07 with a late 1980's homoligation special with a manual gearbox, so while Mr Palmer is no doubt proud of the GT / GTPE the potential is there but in current form it needs significant improvements before it a can make claim to be a once in a decade vehicle.

I have no issue with the B&O system.
Its not horrific, but its sounds quite basic and bass anemic. No tone adjustments could fix it, but what is there to expect from a 6x9 used as a subwoofer (which minutely bigger than a round 6" speaker) and a "soundbar" which is really just a single 3" speaker desd center with twon1" tweeters. Guess it depends what you compare it to, but it's not even as good as the factory system in my Traverse and a far far far cry from what's in our Model X or the Macan we had. If I buy it, I'll be ripping it out for a good system.

My assumption is he's heard of all the people complaining about it early on. Software updates fixed what was going on with it. Some people said it wouldn't even go nearly loud enough to hear it well, especially on the highway.

I barely turn mine over 5 ever. I do sometimes...when the right song comes on. It does a very good job and I also like audio systems.
Im not going by what others have said. Im going buy what I experienced in a test drive. Now it is very possible that the test drive vehicle needed the update for better audio. I dont know. What I do know is that I kept trying to fiddle with it to get pleasing sound and couldnt get it. It wasnt painfully bad, just nothing I cared to listen to, so I turned it off and saw that I would be throwing a grand or two at it to get it where I like it.

To play devil's advocate, if the GT buyers who really care about outright performance are a minority among minorities, does Ford actually need to do anything? The Mach-Es seem to be selling just fine.
The Mach-E (all trims) is selling just fine. There's been plenty non-GTs on the road, lots of word out, and vehicles to test drive. And from performance standpoint, there isnt much to complain about. The only thing I didnt like about the performance is the delay of full throttle onset. The GTs are just getting into the hands of buyers. Thise looking for "GT performance may be disappointed." Some are fine with getting it for the better looks, seats, and quicker leaving-the-parking lot performance. Im not so sure the percentage of future GT owners being fully happy with the current performance is nearly as high as for the other trims. If it was the best current EV tech has to offer in this price range, then there would be no issue, but that's not the case at all.

I'd be curious if it needed whatever that update is that fixes the sound. Unless you listen to really bass heavy music, and really just want to feel the base in the seat, a good set of 6x9's is surprisingly good.

I say that as a background from when I was younger I had two 12" speakers in an old 1985 Escort hatchback that would literally make the keys bounce.

Now I'm in a 2013 Fusion that has 6" speakers and tweeters in each door, a speaker on the dash, and two 6x9's in the back deck for bass. It's surprisingly good for bass. Not like a full sub, but I've never felt the need for a full sub in this car. I also already have tinnitus so I'm not trying to make that worse anymore either.

I listen to literally every type of music from classical, solo acoustic guitar, old school hip hop (can't deal with any newer style hip hop since I'm from the 80's), electronic music, folk, blues, blue grass, etc. If the 2013 Sony sound system in my Fusion is good enough for all that, I can't imagine a 2021 B&O system could be worse.

Again, I'm not expecting it to be as good as a $3500 bowers and wilkens system, but I don't remember needing to make any changes to the one I drove either.

Unless your expectations are on a specific thing with sound that you're looking for (I'd assume bass), it sounds like you're saying the same thing as the people that needed the update in their MME to make it sound right. I'd be curious what you think if you rented one or when you get your MME.

When more and more EVs come out I wonder how long it'll take for drag strips to get a charger online. Like you said you have to drive 45 miles to get there, there's not much you can do about the 70% charge when you arrive.
Sonoma will have some soon but any track that offers power for camping, should have NEMA 14-50 outlets and you can plug into those.

So now GT owners have been reduced to extolling the virtues of the B&O sound system. It does actually sound fairly detailed and with decent bass extension down to 35-40Hz or so it can thump a bit as well.

Good thing the new Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 can’t out-trap it in the 1/4 mile I suppose. Oh, wait, nvm….

I placed an order for a completely different vehicle today. I’m not ready to go full electric not knowing how I can modify them etc etc. I’m going to go the much safer and much faster route even if it’s going to cost me a lot more.
