2 more Dragy captures from my 1/4 mile run. Look at how long it takes at the higher speeds!

Now, need to go out and do the 60 or 70 to 100 rolls and compare those times to the ones when youā€™re just looking at a portion of a 1/4 mile run. Because from what Iā€™m seeing from all of you GT guys it seems that the passing power is very impressive on the street even past 80 when you havenā€™t just run from 0.

And regarding your earlier comment re: mid 11s and 117 trap speed, thatā€™s pushing it for a 480hp EV moving @5000lbs. High 11s under 115 should be doable though.

Edit: and really 115 is too high, more like 110-112 range. The Y can go 112-115 because itā€™s about 4400 lbs empty. Big advantage when you have virtually no interior etc.

Actually I did that today and I had one that was slightly faster and the rest were almost exactly the same as the full 1/4 run. I have at least 3 dragys from today doing 50-70.

1.90
1.93s
1.94
2.01
2.02

It was 1.93 at the drag strip too.

Iā€™m thinking higher than that, i.e; 60 or 70 hit untilā€¦..?

Oh, right.

I have a 5.36 not on the strip, compared to my 6.69 on the 1/4 mile.

Quite a difference!

That's a full 1.3 seconds which is crazy. In an 'on paper by the numbers' comparison that would've been an 11.2 second 1/4 mile. I know that's not a realistic view and it doesn't work that way when we're limited to battery tech and making sure we aren't at the end of the drag strip in a ball of flames.

To me though all of the numbers are where they need to be. 50-70 under 2 seconds. the one you mentioned here (assuming 70-100) in 5.3 seconds.

Im fine with all of it. It seems like the only limitation to the performance is if you're literally doing a full drag run start to finish. With these numbers it definitely seems like they're scaling back the battery to save it from damage.

As long as it's safe they should allow a drag mode where you can do a full 1/4 mile run with X amount of time for cool down between runs to prevent full battery damage.

Thatā€™s some fuzzy math though. Hitting 100 1.3 seconds DOES NOT equate to 1.3 seconds faster in the 1/4.

The Model Y perf hits 100 more than 3 seconds faster than the GTP so far and is only about half a second faster in the 1/4.

5.3 seconds is good enough for me. But it is very slow for a normal sports car. Would you agree?
Yup, itā€™s slow compared to the competition.

Canā€™t find a 70-100 for the Model Y, but it does 60-100 in 4.75. 70-100 likely under 4 seconds. The Mach E seems to be around 8 or more seconds 60-100.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.teslarati.com/tesla-model-y-0-60-mph-acceleration-tests/amp/

Model Y performance:

Run 1
  • 0-60 mph: 3.30 seconds
  • 0-100 mph: 8.12 seconds
  • 30-70 mph: 2.72 seconds
  • 50-70 mph: 1.53 seconds
Run 2
  • 0-60 mph: 3.43 seconds
  • 0-100 mph: 8.19 seconds
  • 30-70 mph: 2.72 seconds
  • 50-70 mph: 1.55 seconds
Run 3
  • 0-60 mph: 3.40 seconds
  • 0-100 mph: 8.15 seconds
  • 30-70 mph: 2.77 seconds
  • 50-70 mph: 1.53 seconds

Lol I guess I didn't realize that was still a slow number. I've been out of the game for too long. Either way ill be happy with it

Everything is slow when youā€™re comparing to the fastest times posted on Teslarati ?. Tons of YPs not running those numbers.

It doesnā€™t really matter which MYP times we compare. Above 50mph our fastest times are still way off their slowest so far.

Unfortunately I havenā€™t seen many published ā€œofficialā€ times for anything other than 1/4 mile and 0-60 for the MYP.

Early on, the car definitely feels like it should be mid 11s and over 117mph.

I guess. But, if your yardstick is the absolute quickest times run without any explanation as to what the test conditions were (road slope, 2-way averaged or not etc.) youā€™re just beating yourself up. See below for literally the fastest 0-130mph Y Performance posted to the Dragy leaderboards, and I selected ā€œHistoryā€ so itā€™s not just this month or recent. Also notice the altitude. Mile Hile + in Colorado baby! That DA is absolutely killer for us ICE guys but all the itā€™s doing for this Y is less aero drag at high speeds due to the thin air. And heā€™s even running an 18ā€ wheel/tire combo thatā€™s only 39 lbs total/corner. Super lightweight. And his 0-100 was only an 8.7, so yeah, Iā€™m calling out that Teslarati 8.15-8.20 time. Itā€™s an outlier for a reason(s), we just donā€™t know which reason(s).
