They said that she hardly used the brakes on the 'mechanical brakes' laps so it doesn't seem like an accurate comparison. It would appear that OPD is more efficient than coasting though.

Hmm, I guess ICE drivers think that A/C uses more energy than heat? Certainly anyone researching BEV's learns that the heater is a much bigger drain - although it was interesting that in this test it was only around 14%.

Well it is the case with ICE cars so it's not surprising people would think it was the same. A big part of increasing BEV adoption is education.

In heater mode, the A/C runs at intervals to dehumidify the air, so of course the hear mode is going to consume more energy than A/C only.

They have a bit of a false apprehension that turning 1PD off turns off regen and makes you use only physical brakes to slow the vehicle. The only way to cut regen is to turn on Unbridled Extend on a GT. I am pretty sire that most of the members on this forum already know this.

yes, but I think the real test was comparing coasting to 1PD, so still a valid result.

It is disappointing that they didn't do that basic research though - they needed Jamie Hyneman instead of Tory :)

Another issue with this comparison is that with +96F outside temp the ac compressor was probably already running to cool the batteries which is why the baseline and AC runs were the same.
wont change the outcome though, everyone knows resistive heaters use a ton of energy.
