Ford Mustang Mach-E Mustang Mach E GT - Grabber Blue at DC Show 287E6555-4094-49DB-85F6-82707D073566

Went to the DC Car show preview and they had the Grabber Blue GT that is making the rounds. Sorry only took one pic - they wouldn’t let me sit in it or show me the frunk. Looks great, although I was a little underwhelmed by the interior (previously had VW Touaregs). The interior didn’t convey a $60K car....but I feel the same about the Model 3. I requested the lighter gray in my reservation - that might make the interior pop a little more. They didn’t have the exterior color samples available - sigh - I wanted to see the Space Gray. But still excited to get one......

Any other trims on display or just the GT?

It’s funny because many first looks have compliment the interior a lot. However I’m with you. There is nothing wrong with it, but doesn’t scream $60k (probably $65k+ With the performance package). I guess that’s the cost of getting an EV. While I love the Mach-E, the interior of the newly announced Genesis GV80 catches my eye.

I like the simplicity of the design and at least we get a dash in front on the steering while, unlike the model 3, but there are a few things in the interior that make it very low rent which ford really need to improve on at this price. You go sit an an audi e-tron and you are at least getting nice interior quality.

Will need to sit in the mach-e as can only go on the pictures, it at least doesn't appear full on bean counter scratchy plastic ford that is very common on USA fords :( as long as it doesn't get a mustang quality interior then that is a start as they are terrible.

Can't tell from the pictures but from but for the price I expect soft touch plastics in the rear not just the front, the mach-e needs to be at a minimum titanium spec and not bean counter titanium spec that happens a lot over here :(.

Things I don't see in pictures and ford really needs to add for production, felt lined door pockets, these are finally on the euro mk4 focus and have been common on golfs for ages, it is a BEV so a quite cabin is expected and hard plastic door pockets make for unwanted noise as loose items rattle around in them.

Still find the 60/40 split rear seat unacceptable at this price point,if your going to keep it 60/40 at least add a ski hatch to the 60.

The one thing that hopefully will be a benefit of the minimalist interior style is there is less options so the dash is not assembled as a giant jigsaw to account for the myriad of potential options so should avoid the dash rattles that can plague some fords as they age.

I know that anything electric means a lose of range, but when the euro spec puma comes with massage seats ford need to keep the bean counter well away from this vehicle both my focus ST & RS are much lower spec than the equivalent euro versions :( the same better not happen to the mach-e

Those seats are definitely pre-production... So who knows what else will be changed in the interiors that are currently being toured around. Those who've had the opportunity to sit inside the pre-pro MME have said there's plenty of soft touch front and rear. We just don't know yet what the "real" production quality will be like, though.

Great comments. I have to say that the interior feels more refined than the Model 3. I went with my friend to pick hers and sat in the back while she was getting her orientation and the materials seemed cheap and plastic and I’m saying to myself “She just paid $50K for this?” Now granted I spent hours helping her through all the options, etc and that was fun. On the other hand.....yes the eTron....that’s a cockpit....and I also test drove an ICE Volvo XC-40 and loved the interior and the great seats. But the XC-40 Recharge looks like it is only going to have a 200 mile range....which is prob expected due to the shape and weight...but it does have a nice interior. And I did like the frunk having a cover in addition to the hood. I thing the Mach E has a cover built into the hood. I just don’t think I would put groceries there. Also agree that at this price point it should have a pass through on the back seats.

Did you get to ride in the Jaguar I-Pace? I was impressed by its interior and driving dynamics.

Nope....it was a quick lunch time trip. I had the feeling that they were going to have the MME closed during general public hours so wanted to take a peek during the VIP time with the help from my roomie. I’m going back next week with the masses so I might try that then.

I visited the Washington Auto Show as well. They had hourly MME talks when they gave the full pitch and opened everything up to see. I also had a long chat with their MME specialist who opened everything possible so I could get a good look, albeit from just off the platform. Here are some highlight pix.
