Mobile service when the closet service center is like 325 miles away? Unlikely. Plus for the dealership mode.
Boise, ID has at least two mobile service techs based there. Per my FIL, they rent a garage with a lift for anything major and can handle most repairs outside of battery swaps. Basically they run a stealth service center out in Idaho.

I go to Boise 2-3x a year and it's really surprising how many Teslas there are.

I'm looking forward to driving my Mach-E to/from Boise and doing some stoplight pedal stomping. I just don't want to be embarrassed by a Model Y every time cuz I'm poking along at 5.5 seconds to 60mph.

If you're looking for speed, and 0-60 times is a major factor I wouldn't be buying a Mach-E unless it is the GT version lol.

Oh Mark, there's nothing wrong with being perfectly happy with 0-60 times below 5 seconds. My issue with mid-5s for the AWD ER is that it is too slow for the segment. A Toyota RAV4 Prime matches up well against the Mach-E at 5.8s 0-60 and the Ford would be left far behind by a Tesla Model Y.

I agree. I have a GT reservation, but would strongly consider switching if the ER AWD was closer to the Model Y’s 0-60 of 4.8s. It’s a nice balance of performance and range. Not that the 0-60 in 5.5s is slow, it’s just not as competitive.

I'd be very happy if Ford was able to get the Mustang Mach-E AWD ER down to 4.8 seconds. That's quick enough to leave a RAV4 or even a Honda Accord behind and would not be embarrassing at a stoplight next to a Model Y.

Yeah I understand where you are coming from for sure, it would be nice if it was a little faster. They may even end up beating their published specs, I guess we will see.

In a world where we all like to make our purchase most justified, it is easy to compare and contrast and when our vehicles are lesser than the competitor at similar pricing it does sort of suck. But I will say this, If I had to do it over again I would gladly give up my 0-60 3.9sec Model 3 for a AWD Mach E if it meets all the specs. To each their own though!

I also wonder is the GT could get potential range close to the Premium if driven in a gentler mode... Full out power mode takes a pretty big hit on range.

I have owned a Ford Fusion Energi for six model years now. (First one totaled and crash protection was brilliant). Virtually no maintenance aside from a starting battery change and oil, etc. Drive battery has weakened to about 50% but the hybrid still achieves 45mpg highway. It also has adaptive cruise and lane hold features which work well and are a six plus year old technology now.

I would also admit to being a fanboy, in the lingo, of Musk and Tesla. I have followed Teslas and owners a great deal. Comments above, fair enough.

When I previewed the Mach E and its feature sets and great design, I was immediately hooked.
I, too, am not thrilled with Model 3 or Y looks much. The Mach E is very well designed, at least on paper and in pictures.

Tesla will achieve, IMHO, Full Self Driving ( with some limits) within two years. Ford and others will be chasing this capability for a while. Ford will ramp up EV volume and vehicles and then have the data to approach Tesla's technology and software.

Ford is doing the right thing, if a bit behind the curve. I see Tesla. Volkswagon and Ford leading the pack.

I have reserved the Mach E GT and will patiently await its brilliance. Summer 2021 is right around the corner!

I highly doubt that. Full Self Driving is so full of strange corner cases that we're still a good 5 or even 10 years away, easily.

I think Cadillac's Supercruise technology will be far more useful and ready (heck its ready now) than FSD.

I've been a software engineer for 35 years, and there's no way in hell I would trust anything other than highway lane keeping. As mentioned driving in city traffic with all the different crazy things other drivers do is way too taxing on today's ai. I wouldn't need to either- I can drive in that situation. I just want reliable auto long distance highway driving where everything starts to cramp up after hours in the same position. Being able to let go of the wheel and get comfortable is all I need

I would suspect that hands off driving may eventually require (by law) a driver sensor that monitors the driver. Cadillac has this and the Mach E also. Other vehicles coming later this year will also have this.

I'm a software engineer too. I've also ridden in Waymo's. I trust those way more than the crazy drivers out there on the road.

The Fusion and CMax Energi have air cooled hvb which is deficient for hot weather and excess loads placed upon it. It is possible to minimize degradation with use of ev driving in piecemeal fashion. A battery specialist has now nearly 50000 miles with 5.5 kWh capacity out of 5.6 when new. Getting over 5 miles per kW in the CMax.

Not everyone qualifies for $7500 so to make it totally comparable, I went with MSRP and literally anyone can join Mustang Club of America to get the X-plan pricing.
I doubt that anybody buying a $50k car will not be able to get the $7500 federal tax credit in the US.
