I hadn't thought of that aspect until now, if everyone gets an EV, the suicide rate might drop a bit, assuming that the tailpipe hose into to car is still a thing.
not to get even more morbid but if someone really, truly wants to commit suicide, enough that they will be wiling to do it in this manner, they will find a way to do it.

But how about that EV of the Year award? Go Ford! :p

This is great news for the Mach-E, confirms what a lot of people on this forum think, that this is a very special vehicle that Ford has created.

This line in particular caught my attention: "In Car and Driver's range testing, only the Tesla Model S has covered more ground. Not coincidentally, the Model S is the sole EV currently for sale with a larger battery."

It's interesting because Tesla is often presented as more technologically advanced than other carmakers, especially as to an emphasis on electric powertrains and battery tech. But if the longest range vehicle is the one with the largest battery, the second longest range vehicle is the one with the second largest battery, regardless of manufacturer, I wonder how true this notion is with their powertrain/battery tech.

You're not suggesting that Tesla's claims/reputation could be built on hype and smoke and mirrors, are you?!?!? ? ?

I would have loved to drive a Mustang, and that was the plan up until the very last minutes, but Ford did everything they could to make me switch ?
Honest question-- why are you here? You seem to be happy with your choice, and I can't for the life of me understand why you are posting?

Because I’m here since many months already (much longer than you), being one of the first to reserve a MME (November 2019).
I’ve been participating and contributing a lot here, and so will I in the future, unless the fact that I finally couldn’t get my MME disqualify me for posting in the forum. Do I need your approval for staying?
I didn’t know that this forum was only for MME owners! Does owning another car prevent me from liking (and writing about) the Mustang too?

"but not a Mustang!" some people continue to scream as they slowly suffocate on V8 fumes in their closed garages
For me, the lack of a V-8 has nothing to do with the name issue. My single issue is that the Mustang has always been a Pony Car. Making a SUV (or more properly CUV) and naming it a Mustang is my issue. Like imagine the uproar if Porsche had called the Panamera a 911. Yes’m there was an uproar that they made a 4 seater at all, but that’s a different argument than fundamentally changing the form of a nameplate. I can’t imagine a world where GM makes the electric version of the Corvette a crossover utility vehicle.

Im not saying that Ford can’t do whatever they want with the nameplates they own. I’m just saying that they don’t get to claim immunity from criticism for doing something like this.

It is just the way it is done 60 MPH in the US, and 100 KMH in Europe, and I think that the procedure is a bit different, but anyway, it is quite comparable. And appart from bragging with your friend, you don't do that so often if you want to preserve autonomy ?

For the design, I have to admit that I loved (and still love) the Mustang design, and I had the idea that I will miss it. But, to be honest, the design of the Ioniq 5 is really awesome too, but completely on another track (not sporty, more futuristic).

I would have loved to drive a Mustang, and that was the plan up until the very last minutes, but Ford did everything they could to make me switch ?
I don’t actually think those numbers are comparable, as the top-end Ioniq is still down on HP compared to the Mach E.

And I don’t blame you for leaving the Mach E, when a company frustrates you to no end, it’s hard to want to work with them. We have a Palisade and have always liked our past Hyundai/Kia vehicles, no doubt the Ioniq will be a good one too.

True, that said, the MME being heavier (due to bigger battery pack) compensate a bit (therefore quite the same acceleration numbers)

Thanks for your kind and sensible words.
Happy to see that the majority of people here are nice ?
Didn’t want this, but had no choice (needed a car now), and lost trust on Ford.

Now if only I could send this article to the punk, pimple-faced teen who asked "how slow my Mustang was" as he drove by in his friend's Jetta lol
Wish we were at a stoplight to show him ?
That sounds like an interesting story. Do tell.
